Guest guest
Thanks, I knew you would have some good resources to share! I will read these over the weekend.   >________________________________ > >To: " fibromyalgiacured " <fibromyalgiacured > >Sent: Friday, July 27, 2012 10:51 AM >Subject: : the Many Ketogenic diets!! > > > >The debate about the danger of ketosis is ongoing. And some of the children on the Epilepsy diet have experienced complications because of it > >http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketogenic_diet > >I read this and other negative stuff about it early on and it concerned me > >I did the Atkins diet. And found much relief in ketosis on that diet but also had all the worry that goes with this and stopped doing it beause of my worries, I tried to just do low carb, and did OKish, but as soon as I ovulated all the usual stuff returned > >The other problem I had with the Atkins diet was I could not figure out what would be a good supplement regime for me. I was doing OK but not great, good really, not bad anyway, low carbing but was struggling a lot, regarding was I getting enough nutrition. A friend here showed me Bees diet. And I decided to try no carbing, with her all meat and fat diet. I could not beleive the progress I made. It was like heaven for me > >Anyway after 7 weeks of this I added good carbs, and whilst I remained in ketosis was OK, but as I went higher my addition returned, and my behaviour and feelings started to become obessional and depressing. I cut back again and found I felt normal and healing improved. but i still was not sure this was right. I know how crazy that sounds and now it seems like insanity, i was doing great but did not trust it, but that was because of stuff in my past and so on. I am a natural worrier > >Anyway I found this lot > >Dr Westman once worked with the ketogenic diet and epilepsy, he is now a main doctor at the Atkins centre. Here he is insisting ketosis is the only suitable treatment for diabetes, but he is meaning temporarily until the condition is under control > > > > Attia, is an athelete. He explains that it takes a while for the body to adjust, for me it was 4 months or so. For that time I was aching for my carb life, eventually my body became efficient with ketones and now runs very effectively on ketones. You might want to give s work some consideration > >http://eatingacademy.com/nutrition/is-ketosis-dangerous > >Dr Eade is like me, he believes ketosis is the natural state for the human body and that the glucose pathway is meant to only be used as a reserve > >http://www.proteinpower.com/drmike/ > > croxton tells the truth about food > > > >regarding Dr mary Newports work, my own feelings are that prevention is better than cure. I do think the brain damage being caused by being in the glucose pathway, the hypoglycemia and insulin resistance etc with fibro will lead to dementia > >http://www.coconutketones.com/ > >the scientist are insisting we need their meds (see AXONA Alzheimers on youtube) to do the ketogenic diet, $100 per month, most folk I have spoken to that have tried AXONA have given up on it and say the diet is more effective > >http://alzheimersweekly.com/content/keto-dementia-diet > >the inuits studied by weston price and others were always in ketosis and had none of these illnesses we all have > >http://www.biblelife.org/stefansson1.htm > >there are folk on bees board with brain tumors but I am not sure if they are using ketosis or the optimal diet ratios > > > >Barry Groves is a member of the Weston Price foundation and knows NCM well > >http://www.second-opinions.co.uk/diseases_index.html > >You might feel better if you consider this as a tempory thing, to see how you go, or you might feel better simply low carbing with the optimal diet allowance. some go half way and eat between 30g to 40g of carbs > >I cannot decide for you. All i can say is that trying ketosis out for a few days might help you with your decision. There are ketostix at amazon which will help you know if you are in ketosis and you could consider your symptoms. Or you could begin with the Optimal diet and later try ketosis for a few days and see how you feel about it. > >Myself i cannot return to my fibro and the glucose pathway. Now i have had a taste of a lovely life I cannot tolerate all the suffering and the deep anxiety that comes with the glucose pathway > >And remember the foods we are eating are the best!!! Some of the above diets agree with ketosis but not always the best food and the Epilepsy diet is definately not the best foods > >Hope this helps. > >love joanne > > >To: " fibromyalgiacured " <fibromyalgiacured > >Sent: Friday, 27 July 2012, 17:49 >Subject: Re: Laurie: Why we have so much pain and why it will not go away > > > > >Joanne, > >I'm trying to sort out the differing websites that make conflicting statements such as... > >1) ketosis all the time is good and natural >2) if you eat low carb all of the time, your body becomes so efficient at burning ketones for fuel that you won't actually test as being in ketosis after a period of time (so how do you do it then?) >3) You will lost muscle tone from long-term ketosis >4) Athletes should rotate between ketosis and carb-loading to prevent muscle loss & to provide endurance >5) There are negative health effects from ketosis that must be monitored (this is reported in ketogenic diet literature) > >I know you have been researching this info for years, so I'd love to hear your responses. My cousin fought the keto diet for her daughter's intractable epilepsy for over 10 years. She finally rolled up her sleeves and tried it and it was the best thing they ever did -- but they are closely monitored for " adverse health effects. " My kids and I do much better off the starchy carbs, but I am not sure we have ever been in ketosis for any length of time. > >Thx, > >  > >>________________________________ >> From: Joanne Ford <mailto:joannesford%40yahoo.co.uk> >>To: " mailto:fibromyalgiacured%40yahoogroups.com " <mailto:fibromyalgiacured%40yahoogroups.com> >>Sent: Friday, July 27, 2012 5:55 AM >>Subject: Laurie: Why we have so much pain and why it will not go away >> >> >> >>Laurie >> >>Right now it is better to focus on the diet and get it working for you.
