Guest guest
Hello I agree with you on our news here on tv - They report so much fluff and garbage when there is real news to report. But most Americans would rather not know what is really going on in the world. Our media does a very poor job. Speaking of facebook which I refuse to use myself- now here in California some companies as part of the interview are asking people to show them their facebook pages I would think this is illegal...but I know my step daughter who is in college does not post any photos that would be considered bad cause she knows companies look at your facebook. She is a Junior in college and she is afraid with the economy that she wont be able to find a job when she gets out. She is interning and working a p/t job and still is on the deans list. At least with her job she is now understanding taxes and how to budget. I can understand if you have kids and your family is not near why to have facebook but it seems to have become something else. These are stations run without commercials and count on public support to help pay their programs. Here in Austin we have four public stations. You do not usually find this in other cities or states. But getting to the point, with PBS we have discovered news from different countries reporting the economic, political, and latest events are closer to the truth and much more detailed and factual than the fluff we get in other stations. I just cannot get over how much news in local and cablestations are mostly reports of whatthe Hollywood actors are doing...most being immoral examples to the younger set. Other news may cover a bit on the important items but it is mostly lacking factual information and dripping with the station's opinionatedview. Then there is Facebook. Facebook is beginning to reap more negative turmoil for our young rather than being a tool it was meant to be. It is now used to bully and send risque photos that should not be allowed for public view...mostly by our youngsters. Nowadays you risk alienation of your child if you chide them for using these outlets negatively. Children are too young to realize the potential of lifetime damage that can be done to their reputation and to their psyche basing their self worth on the opinion of others in these sites. I could go on and on with my soapbox but I better quit. Then we wonder why we have a nation taking pills for depression, unhappiness, and a joyless life.
