Guest guest
Hi Cheryl - I pop in here from time to time. My fibro turned out to be Lyme disease, a bacterial infection, that I acquired from a known tick bite in my foot. I now am on oral clindamycin antibiotics, 150mg 1-2x/day and the fibro pain is at zero! Because I saw the tick and can date all symptoms - ie, I'm very clear on what happened to me, I partecipated in a one-hour talkshow with three others, which can be googled for, called San Francisco Lyme Disease Talkshow, in order to help educate the public. A mom on the show mentions her daughter was diagnosed with fibro and chronic fatigue. There are Lyme doctors in Washington state. If you're interested in checking it out, I suggest you go to www.lymenet.org, sign up, and post in SeekingADoctor for referrals to knowledgeable Lyme-treating doctors in Washington state. Take care - Robin Doctor Referrals I have been living in Juneau, Alaska, for the past s To: fibromyalgiacured To: fibromyalgiacured even years, and would have continued to live here long into retirement if it were not for multiple medical issues. This is a beautiful area, but very isolated and accessible only by boat and air. The medical care that exists is quite good in many respects. However, anything beyond a family practice or orthopedist, requires a 1000 mile trip (or more) down to Seattle or up to Anchorage. It is seriously draining, exhausting, and terribly difficult for my body to endure the trip itself, which only happens after an extended battle to persuade the hierarchy that I require the care of a specialist. That said -- the reservations are made!! We board the ferry to Bellingham June 29th!! We are returning to the lower 48, but my husband will go no further than Bellingham, b/c he is absolutely convinced that he is coming back to visit!!!! We will see what happens. (He has not left SE Alaska since we arrived SEVEN years ago!!!) Has anyone found a good specialty center for fibro and fatigue in Washington or Oregon? When we first moved to Alaska, there was only one grandchild -- there are now ten, so I am so excited to be going back that I can hardly contain myself. I am also so very excited to begin to check out all the alternative care possibilities, therapies that work that no one in Juneau's medical community has even heard of, and specialists that everyone else probably takes for granted!!!!! My quality of life has sunk so low that I am determined to use our arrival in Whatcom County/Bellingham area -- and all the way to Seattle or wherever I have to go -- to make some very powerful and positive changes. I know that there are people on the various online support groups I belong to that can help!! I am looking for recommendations for doctors/specialists and any wonderful treatments that have worked for all of you!! It is finally time to ask and I am so excited to hear from all of you!!! I have new found hope and trust in my fellow onliners to start pointing me in the correct direction!! I am on a couple of lists for fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue so that I can stay informed and read a diversity of thoughts and experiences. Or perhaps you just want to wish us well and contribute to my latest challenge. Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!! Cheryl (AK)
