Guest guest
Barry -- Regarding your question about how to break up calcified gall stones -- I wonder if they could be broken up the same way some kidney stones are broken up, using hydro-ultrasonic shock wave therapy (sitting in a tub full of water and having ultrasonic shock waves applied to the torso in close proximity to the kidney -- essentially using ultrasonic waves to crack the stones apart)? A colleague of mine had this therapy for his kidney stones -- I wonder if calcified gall stones are similar enough to kidney stones to benefit from this treatment? Guest guest
Yes, you are right. This is actually a method of cure instead of surgery or medication. They do it without the tub of water for the gallbladder. I understand it's a one time treatment of shock wave but a lot of doctors don't like to do it for two reasons. One is that the small 'jagged' stones could get caught in the ducts or pancereas. The other reason is they think it's a 'band-aide' cure. Meaning, the stones will just come back anyway. If you have a genetic gallbladder problem, or diseased gallbladder wall, the general medical opinion is that they will always return to haunt you. This means you will have to flush forever on alterantive methods. Ultra-'crushing' or medication is only temperary fixes. Thanks for the info.
