Guest guest
so sorry that you are struggling so, I know very well the feelings you have. I have been struggling with Fibro for about a year, since my appendix burst and filled my body with infection. I spent 9 days in the hospital and could have died--my body seems to have been traumatized. I am trying to work from a nutritional aspect with my chiropractor who does nutritional response testing, but until my body heals more, I am on several drugs. I can't remember what Savella is--but I take prozac for depression and help sleeping, the greatest help for me pain wise has been neurontin which is a seizure medication. It has calmed down all the nerve pain that I had and helps me sleep nice and deeply. I have also started on armour thryoid (a natural thyroid replacement) to see if i have hypothyroidism even though my blood tests are in normal range. nne On Sat, Jan 1, 2011 at 1:37 PM, blessedlady58 wrote: > > > Hi, Im new to this site, I have been dealing with fibro for 6-7 years andIm > no Savella and its like 100 mg a day. it isnt helping and going to my doc > next week to see what else he can do.... Guest guest
Hello, Welcome to our forum. You have found the right place to be. I am sorry to hear that you are in such horrible pain. I have had Fibro now for fourteen years. I'm not on any pain meds, antidepressants or sleeping pills. From my experience doctors have only caused things to get worse. Alot of us here are following Bee's diet and trying to fix ourselves through proper diet, supplements and getting as much excersize as possibly tollerated. My best advice to you is to start taking extra virgin coconut oil, stay completely away from all forms of sugar or sugar replacements accept for Stevia. Stevia is the only type of sweetner that you should be using as a Fibromyalgia sufferer. Stay away from Bread and Potatoes and any form of starchy food like pasta. I am providing the website for you that most of us on here are using to try to help heal ourselves, its alot to read and alot to take in. I also suggest taking Epsom salt baths, they help me tremendously when I'm in any pain. I am taking four tablespoons of coconut oil a day and also rub it on my body. Coconut oil is very good for you, and its very healing. It is antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral and so much more. Do research on oils and learn what to cook with and what not to cook with. The food industry is not going to be the one to tell you, but Vegetable oil is very bad for you. Doesnt sound like it with the name (Vegetable) in it does it.... but unfortunately it is. Also margarine,,, extremely bad for you. Use real butter instead. Anyways, there is much to learn so stay with us, and keep reading the posts. And go on Bee's website, and you will have more energy before you know it, and then hopefully you can give up some of those pain meds that your on. I can not stress enough, cut sugar completely out of the diet... no candy, no cookies, no cakes, definately no soda. Not even diet,,, that stuff contains aspartame, and don't even get me started on aspartame. Have a blessed day. Guest guest
Hi - reading through the posts here, looks like everyone has different theories as to what fibro is. As for myself, I found out my fibro of 25 years was actually Lyme disease, a bacterial infection, more specifically called relapsing borreliosis, that I acquired from a known tick bite on my foot. I can thus date every symptom that developed. It took 18 months for full-blown fibromyalgia to develop. The bacteria are found in the brain within 12 hours of exposure and inflame the nerves. The spiral-shaped bacteria also corkscrew into tissues anywhere and inflame them. This is a very sophisticated bacteria. It can be transmitted by very small ticks, often unseen by those bitten. Also found in 23 insects, and in human tissues and fluids, and yes, transmitted congenitally too. So there are many possible routes to becoming infected. Sometimes people show clear positive testing and sometimes they don't, as the bacteria are elusive. The best testing lab is IGeneX (www.IGeneX.com - they have a very informative website). I tested positive. But since people who have Lyme don't always test positive, Lyme-literate doctors treat by history and symptoms. Antibiotics are usual initial treatments. Like I'm doing very well on oral clindamycin antibiotics - it takes my fibro and joint swelling symptoms to zero - I hit the jackpot with this antibiotic. But we're all different and so are the Lyme strains, so people need to find out what treatments are going to help. People also treat with herbs, supplements, energy treatments, etc. You're asking for information here. I suggest the following: google for 2008 Burrascano guidelines, then look at pgs 9-10 - that's where Lyme symptoms are listed - and see whether you think you match. Dr Burrascano was a doctor who saw Lyme patients early on and developed guidelines for dealing with Lyme and co-infected patients - ie, there are some other infections too in the ticks. You could also go read people's posts at www.lymenet.org and also search the archived posts by typing any phrase into the Search box at the top of the page. Many people with Lyme report having fibro symptoms. Everyone has to search for their answers. Keep doing it! - Robin fibromyalgia is horrible Hi, Im new to this site, I have been dealing with fibro for 6-7 years andIm no Savella and its like 100 mg a day. it isnt helping and going to my doc next week to see what else he can do....
