Guest guest
Hi I have neuropathy and fibro and I take 60 mg Cymbalta at bed time. I also experienced severe nausea and constipation when I first started taking the medication. However, I found as long as I take it just before going to bed, I don't experience the nausea nearly as bad. As for the constipation, my alternative medicine doctor suggested taking magnesium at bedtime as well and that seems to work very well for the constipation. The relief I get from the pain has far out weighed the side effects, but every person reacts differently to medication. If you choose to give it another try, you may get some relief from the side effects with the things I suggested as well as eating a small snack just before taking it. Apples are really good if you can eat them because they also help with the constipation. a > wrote: >I recently tried the drug Cymbalta for pain relief. Guest guest
I have been on Cymbalta for about 10 months and it has really helped my depression as well as back pain. I do have to take heavy pain meds to REALLY tackle the pain, but I feel Cymbalta does help add to the effect of other pain meds. BUT if I miss a day or two - especially 3 days - I get depressed FAST and husband can tell right away, so dont just stop using it! I've been on Cymbalta for over a year now & it has helped with my depression and my pain. I take several medications everyday but I take the Cymbalta only at night. It made the side effects easier to deal with for the first few weeks and on my better days it helps me sleep at night. My pain doctor started me on a low dosage for 2 weeks and then changed it to the 60mg that I've been on ever since. A couple of the medications I take I had to try more than once before I could get past some of the side effects so it might be worth looking into one more time. Guest guest
, I have been on Cymbalta for over a year now. While it has absolutely no effect on my pain (I take it as an antidepressant), it DOES work in general (ie preventing me from sinking into a depression). What I can tell you is that the initial symptoms DO pass. What may work better for you is to start out with a smaller initial dose so that you can get past the first couple of weeks (when the side effects seem their worst), and then up the dose at that point. I could probably use a stronger dose (again, not for pain), but if I take the next higher it causes stomach upset. Since I have Crohn's, this isn't a good option. But I can manage with the lower dose. Hopefully you can find a happy medium since this works for you otherwise.
