I am so sorry hearing about your daughter has been going throught a lot and as a

mother, i can tell how much you are suffering as well.

I have been diagnosed fibro since 2007 and i almost lost job; doctors gave me

multiple medications but it makes me sick more. I am dong taichi, yoga (helping

a lot). I am taking CoQ10 for about a week and seems helping me.

I hope your daughter getting better soon. Take care.

> Hi everyone. My daughter is 17 and was diagnosed with fibro about 1 1/2 years

ago. She also has endometriosis (12 when diagnosed). She had meningitis on her

first birthday, and open heart surgery to repair holes when she was 4. I wonder

if all this stress is what brought the fibro on... ?

that CoQ10 and Magnesium are very popular treatments, as well as the gluten-free

diet. She does take the CoQ10 and magnesium, but was not faithful about it until

recently. She's been on a gluten-free diet for about 3 months, and that helped

her stomach problems immensely! She suffers most now with hip and neck pain. She

sees her chiro weekly. I'm wondering if there are any other supplements/vitamins

I should have her on. I'm also looking into magnetic mattress pads...has anyone

had any success with those?

Hi Joanne:

I do yoga on a regular basis as this is the most drug free gentle therapy I

know for muscle pain and inflammation connected to fibro. Your daughter is

young enough to start on this program and I believe it could change her life

permanently. Even just working with a DVD at home that is yoga for people

with bad backs. Or yoga for old people. LOL I have one of those.

Pilates is a pretty good solution too. But there are some Pilates

instructors who may be too tough for her at first so she needs one who will

listen to her situation and adjust the program accordingly. DVD¹s are out

there for this too probably at the library by now.

In the USA there are TV programs also that can be done for free in case

money is a problem with paying for classes. I don¹t know if she¹s still in

school or working yet but whatever she can afford that stretches her muscles

on a daily basis is a necessity at her age. And an added benefit is that it

makes you look more beautiful. When a person exercises their energy looks

different and their posture is straighter and their eyes are brighter etc.

at her age that should interest her?

I say this because at my age if I sit around for a couple of days without

stretching/yoga/pilates I hobble. And sometimes I only do some of the

streches while I am watching tv. You don¹t have to get all dressed up, or

have a big formal set up if you can¹t manage that. Just doa few stretches

when you roll out of bed, or befroe bed right on the floor beside your bed.

Then while watching tv do a few more or instead of watching a comedy watch a

yoga program and do it along with the tv.

That¹s how I had to do it to get myself started because I was so sore and

resisted exercise. If I knew I only had to do ten minutes beside my bed I

could confront that!

Anyhow, good luck with your daughter. I have two sons and daughters in law

and a grandson so I know how worrisome it can be. We love our kids and we

worry more over them than us. :)

Have a good day Joanne
