Guest guest
, I enjoyed reading your post. So much, I read it to my husband. It helped him understand me better. I say that because I have my chronic pain, a degree plan I am finishing in the Spring, and we have received custody of our grandson (8 weeks old tomorrow). Therefore, it's the issue of time right now. Oh, tomorrow morning I am also having my right knee replaced. Just another distraction in life! Thank you for your post, Lori Texas > in MD wrote: >And lastly, I would say that having as active a sex life as possible will probably HELP. Because it can be a distraction, it makes your body feel good, and it will definitely help your mind-set and your relationship with your partner/spouse. Guest guest
What a really good post. I'm sure some people would be upset by the level of detail but this is the kind of stuff we need to know to get on with our lives. Thanks for your enlightened post. Between us, we do talk. I read her this post and she wanted to respond. 'By using the TENS unit, you are creating a type of pleasurable pain that is far better than the chronic pain. At times, it can actually break a cycle of chronic pain. Anyone interested in finding out more about it can probably find information in a yahoo search.' We have had eighteen years of working out what we can and cannot do. The nerves in her system are not only damaged but misfire and crossfire in strange ways. It helps that I have a creative imagination and can still surprise her. She also has a strong drive. Half way through reading this to her, I jokingly asked if she had written it. She agrees that it sounds like something she would write, trying to be helpful to others. Jerry and Connie

I hope your surgery goes well, and your recovery is swift and relatively painless. Do you have help with taking care of your grandson? Thankfully I was not in this level of pain when the kids were tiny. I don't know how I could have handled it. Please don't hesitate to ask friends and family for help. It's the hardest thing I've had to do, but it's the only way to function when you're hurting.

I'm not terribly well known for my tact, but I did try. I am a bit of a " sexpert " so to speak, and I'm happy to give a bit more information in a more direct and detailed manner (in private email). I know of some great books that can give more ideas for positions, and I can also provide links of where to purchase some aids as well as the swing I mentioned. Really, if anyone is in need of some information, please feel free to contact me. I really feel that being able to maintain a healthy and satisfying sex life is extremely important, especially under the added stress of living in pain. My Mom & my husband's Step- Mom are taking care of him during the day & then my husband picks him up when he gets off work. Then, my husband brings the baby to see me! I am so greatful that my husband loves the baby as much as I do! My surgery went well & I did have to have the anesthesiologist come to my room this afternoon to block the pain in my leg. It was worth the extra pain to have it done! I have to start my gait training in the morning so it will be interesting to see how that goes. I know what you mean about the extra pain being worth it -- that's exactly what my previous back surgery was like. It's wonderful that you have such supportive family to care for the baby. It's even more wonderful that your grandson has such supportive family to care for him. Feel better soon!
Guest guest
I sure wasn't offended. I think we need to take care of ourselves in ALL ways, especially when we've been dealt the cards we have. That truly means a lot to me. I have always had a supportive family but now that we have another baby this far into our lives sure has changed our plans for the future. I'll take it anyday of the week though. He is so precious that I can't remember what it was like before he was brought into our lives. I did come home this afternoon. I was not sure if it was the right thing to do but I went with my gut and came home. My pain has been better today even though there are the moments when I can feel like screaming. I have truly been fortunate that all of my regular medications have kept my RSD under control for the most part. Hope you have a wonderful evening, Lori
