Guest guest
Forgive me for not remembering you, but could you explain a little more about yourself? Have you been diagnosed with PCa? Have you had treatment... and if so what type? Regarding your pain it would make a difference. Guest guest
Did you have open surgery or robotic? Have you discussed the pain with your doctors and if so what did they say? Do you only have pain when you orgasm? Guest guest
Great Summary! I'd like to post this on my site www.fibrofeedback.com Ron > > When it comes to pain, I believe we all have our threshold and being very different animals... some can tolerate more than others. And some respond to treatment better than others. > > The Am. Cancer Soc. prints a booklet describing cancer pain <snip> Version II/August 2005.. which says ..' There are three main types of pain: visceral, somatic, and neuropathic. > > Viceral pain involves organs. Pain caused by tissue damage in an organ such as the liver is usually pain that cannot be pinpointed and may be described as gnawing, cramping, aching, or sharp. > > Somatic pain involves the skin, muscle, or bone and is usually in a specific area. It is described as stabbing, aching, throbbing,or pressure. > > Neuropathic pain is caused by injury to, or compression of, the structures of peripheral or central nervous system. Nerve injury or compression can be due to an injury of a peripheral nerve, injury to the central nervous system such as the spinal cord, or a combination of injury to both a peripheral nerve and central nervous system. It is often described as sharp, tingling, burning, or shooting.' > > It is important to know the type of pain present because different pain is treated differently. ' <snip> > > I believe that medical doctors have been well schooled about pain and therefore are adequately prepared to treat patients ( with everything given to their disposal) to assure the paitent that he/she will respond and get easement of their discomfort. > > What is percieved with several comments made on this site.... that if someone here needs to ask if someone out there knows of a way to ease their pain, then someone else is not doing their job. > > From what has been defined here, a conclusion could be reached that says your doctor IS qualified and can respond but he first has to diagnose just what kind of pain you are experiencing before he can prescribe the proper drugs etc. > > How each of us is able to communicate our pain to our doctor becomes the critical point. > > Most people have different ways of saying, ' it hurts like hell here when I try to move', I get a stabbing pain right here that lasts for over a half hour, my head seems like it wants to explode.....and on and on. > > The pain association of: cancer drugs, radiation, surgery and specifically anything associated with Prostate Cancer should be easy for Radiologists, Urologists, Oncologists and those treating cancer to understand and to administer proper treatment. Sometimes they do not. > > When it comes to 'treatment procedure' side effects, the describing of pain or discomfort associated with differing procedures then seems to be something very difficult for some doctors to understand, and they tend to rely on things that had worked well for others and prescribe drugs that have been well established as they know them to be. > > You may want to say, ' Doc. I really don't have a throbbing pain (in my groin, my leg, my back -( or wherever else place you may have a cancer) ' but there is this,' sometime nausea I get after I drink water or eat certain food', and 'when I lie down I become very agitated,' ' end up with wandering pains in my body and need to sit up and try and walk them off----sometimes that works. but it does return', OR ' I have pains in the soles of my feet when walking that does disappear after sometime but also returns after sitting or lieing down for awhile and then again walking,' and I cannot get to sleep at night because of the hot flashes and the nagging discomfort of trying to find a restful position in bed.' ' I get this really bad pain in my hip sometimes, more often than not. and it is very difficult to shake. .....and I am sure... there are lots of other pains or discomforts you too can describe?. > > It is a given that certain type pain 'killers' can also give you severe constipation and that for me when that occurred, I just stop taking the drugs and try to live with the discomfort up to when I an forced to take some tylenol which does give a bitt of diversion. At present able to withstand discomfort and do not want to return to the constipation (that too is pain...isn't it?) > > All I can say is, keep on asking and whining if necessary and if something given does not work...let them know immediately and keep on persisting. > > Get a copy of the above mentioned pamphlet and read it. It does also say in part <snip> 'Although most cancer pain can be relieved, controlling cancer patients' pain effectively continues to be a problem. The reasons for this are related to knowledge, beliefs, and fears. ' <snip>. There it is....it is a problem and with a lot of hollering I think we can solve it., or at least make a good stab at it. > > Bill. >

Guest guest
Hi Lorrie, Sorry to hear about that. I was in bed for 2 months and medical doctors could not help me except giving Tylenol#3 that made me more sick. I am taking CoQ10 300mg (for muscle pain) daily and Ginkgo Biloba (for memory), you can buy them in Costco. They really help me to release pain and mood enhance. After you feel better, try to take yoga or Tai Chi, you can tell big difference. Take care  ________________________________ To: fibromyalgiacured Sent: Fri, May 13, 2011 6:36:50 PM Subject: pain  I am in so much pain I am seriously depressed, I have been in bed for a week, The pain clinic said they couln't help me because my insurance wouldn't cover anything, I can't afford what they are asking for fee. I asked my Dr. about getting lyrica and he replied with we don't have that, I tried to see one of the other Dr. and they are'nt taking any new patience. Here in WA State, has put a stop on medicaide and medicare from going to any specialits without a referral, The dr I have will not refer me to this other dr in their office. I am dumbfounded.. I did have a good day yesterday it did'nt rain but when I woke this morning I hurt like crazy, Just want to cry. Do your feet get hot. Mine get so hot I have to put them in cold water wich hurts like ( to bad to find the words) I sometimes just feel like climbing in a hole, I can't sleep but 3 hour a night after about 4,5 days I just passout. This is no way to live a life. Dr. called and told me I had to go to Seattle to the wasshington university hospital. But I don't have a car and it is a 1hr ferry ride and then 3 busses to get there can you imagine that when I hurt so bad, It's just crazy. I force my sellf to even get dressed I can't hardly take a shower cuz it hurts when the shower hits my skin, my skin hurts and I have to wear shorts most of the time. This is so mindboggling to me. I am soooooo at a loss.I cant stand to hear myself complaining anymore and I am sure my family hates it. I just lost my boyfriend and 5 kids because of my illness, I just couldnt take care of them like he thought I should. 2 friends of mine died 2 weeks ago, a week apart from each other, lost my boyfriend, my purse got stolen and my boyfriend kept the car. Oh boy I feel like there is not light at the end of the tunnel. So Sorry to complain so. Thank you for the support I don't really have any here at all. talk soon, thanks again. Guest guest
Carol, Thank you for the suggestions, I do take supplements and they help with my fatigue, also am bi-polar and all this is raging havoc with my depression, I was a little suicidal a couple weeks ago. I just don't know what to do and I will almost try anything.I'm doing much better today, I have a better day yesterday, I actually got dressed for the first time in week, hot baths help for a little while. I like to walk, but I just had 2 back surgeries and have been down for almost a year. trying to get it back together, so many things to catch up on, I finally got a caregiver to help out I can't lift more that 5lbs that's hard. They were going to do another back surgeries but the Dr. said It wasn't bad enough yet. OMG, what do they want, I have degenerative joint disease. Have trouble standing for more than 5 minutes. I haven't been able to get another Dr. Our government stopped all med coverage to specialists, I am on ssi, we now have to pay for some of our meds. I only get 600 a month. I just don't know what they are thinking. Anyway, I really hurt today , it is raining and boy that does'nt help any. Well enough complaining. My wonderful grand kids are here and I am going to try to play some card with them, Thank you again, Have a good day God bless you Lorrie

Now I see how much rest I needed,Iwas exhausted and didn't realize It till we broke up and I am finding I just let mysself go. ButnowI'm coming back, and it is hard, I have to come first now. So send me what ever you think is best, I will read most anything. Thank you again Lorrie > > > > Subject: Re: pain > To: fibromyalgiacured > Date: Sunday, 15 May, 2011, 16:34 > > >  > > > > Carol, > > Thank you for your information, yes it does rain her alot.
