I have the same problem. I'm on oxycontin. I feel numb, like you. And even if I

do get there its not the same intensity or whatever. It really sucks, I hate it.

Caitlin

I have been on a combo of Morphine and Oxycontin to help reduce my

pain levels for almost 2 years now. They seem to help in reducing

my pain levels which I can handle the pain, Its not completely gone

but enough to let me get around.

One side effect I have been having is I have no Sex Drive what so ever

I am only 44 years old and have no thoughts what so ever on it. Its

like I am almost numb. what really sucks is that I have a " Hot "

looking wife.

Rob,

The problem that relates to my desires is my pain levels. If my pain

gets to the point that I am praying it will after surgery next Monday

(I am having my right knee replaced at the tender age of 43), my

husband will be a happy man again.

He is a grumpy man when I am a grumpy woman from the pain. We love each

other dearly & that is what keeps us going.

I know before I started taking the pain medications we had a normal

sex life even with my pain reaching levels of 10++.

The one thing that I have found is that I do better in the morning after I've

had time to " prepare " .

I usually get up about 5:30 or 6:00 to take a pain pill and lay on the heating

pad to get my achy back and body moving for work.  About the time my pain pill

kicks in then I'm okay for a little " activity " .

Since I've had back surgery we are pretty limited but I prefer to lay on my side

and that seems to work for us both.  (on side and leaning slightly back).  Okay

Too Much Information!

Anyway, In the A.M. things seem to move along pretty quickly due to various

reasons but mostly due to time constraints.  That way I don't have time to start

hurting and he gets to feel that I care about him by trying.

I guess since I've been hurting for so long I could just give it up completely

and it would not bother me in the least.  At night I'm just too tired and too

achy to even think about sex.

Robyn,

Not too much information as far as I'm concerned. What you've said

just reiterates my earlier statement that different positions can make

it easier. With my back pain (and surgery in '07), I actually find

that from behind works better, with a pillow under my hips to help

prop me up. Takes all the strain off my back.

How's that for too much information? LOL

P.S. I'm sorry that it's to the point that you could give it up if it

weren't for your husband. I'm glad that he's understanding and

supportive, but I really don't think that you can substitute the kind

of closeness that a sexual connection can engender.
