Guest guest
I am a real hard head, i need things spelled out for me. I don't understand how to figure out how to start but i am seeing my chiropractor that is going to give me acupuncture and supplements to replace the meds i am on. I am afraid of the die off that I will experience will be diarrhea.  she told me that I need calcium, fish oil, magnesium, vitamin D. she said if you take more than 10 thousand units of Vitamin D it is a waste because your body can't use it. I meet with her again next Friday and i'll find out more about what I'm suppose to take and how much. I really do appreciate this group and all the things we share but my  memory sucks so bad, she is also emailing me a book that the author gave away. and when she does I will post it. for all to down load. if it works. the author is from the UK    Joy  ________________________________ To: fibromyalgiacured Sent: Sunday, August 14, 2011 12:10 PM Subject: Re: : Supplements  All i can tell you is this, when I lower my carbs and eat mainly meat fish poultry offel and eggs, along with the good fats bee suggests my gut problems really clear up I did need to wean over pretty slowly, and as you know i took the atkins route, which helped a lot, especially helped me give up the foods that were harming me, but that I was addicted to too, the bread chocolate and diet coke are three examples of foods that were harming me but I craved and craved for. I do not crave these foods now Regarding the supplements All the sites i have ever ventured to regarding IBS Crohns Colitis etc, all of them recommend cod liver oil for calming the bowl and bringing around correct gut flora. I personally find codliver oil and other fish oils, like halibut oil very agreeable Coconut oil is also often mentioned, mainly i guess because it is so good at helping the body deal with candida and other pathogens. Plus coconut oil has a lot of MCTs and if you are doinga low carb diet, these MCTs give us extra energy. I am fine with coconut oil now, but in the past I found that even a small amount gave me a lot of healing reactions. Ijust introduced it to my diet slowly, and over time ate more and more. now coconut oil is the main fat I eat, appart from the fat on my meat. I do eat plenty of that too The vitamin bs have never affected my gut. the extra niacin i take exagerates my healing symptoms, and it is not always pleasant. But because i know what it is, i know it is the niacin helping my body detox, I do not really worry about this. Niacin does not give me diarhea I have been told vitamin C in high doses can make diarhea worse, but i take 4000mg a day, which is quit high and i do notget diarhea at this level. and I also know vitamin c is extremely important in regards to helping the body heal the gut, so again i guess i is just a case of introducing it slowly vitamin E does not affect my gut. in fact i have never had any ill effects at all from vitamin E. The vitamin E helps my body repair its cells which in some ways is needed in my gut but for me i would say it is everywhere else, ie my joints, my muscles my brain etc that has really needed the vitamin E Magnesium really relaxes my bowel, and my muscles and it halps a lot with pain. And it helps with insomnia too. It has never given me diarhea but some say it can so I guess this is one supplement to keep an eye on. I am thinking introducing this one slowly over time is also a good idea. Remember we must take calcium if we are taking magnesium, calcium has never givemeany gut problems, indeed calcium supplements have never given me any ill effects seasalt, for me is th nmber one supplement. the many minerals in seasalt serve my body in so many ways. addin it to my bath also helps my bowel relax Hope at least some of this is helpful Love Joanne ________________________________ To: " fibromyalgiacured " <fibromyalgiacured > Sent: Sun, 14 August, 2011 17:14:53 Subject: Re: : Bone Broth  that means I have to go out and buy meat now , gotta wait till pay day. I am seeing the chiropractor on friday when I get paid, and buying the supplements the next day. trying to make changes and hoping the changes don't add up to diarrhea    Joy  ________________________________ To: fibromyalgiacured Sent: Friday, August 12, 2011 5:27 PM Subject: : Bone Broth  Any, i like the lamb best, but any are fine. I mentioned to you recently that taking magnesium helps with colitis and fibro ie relaxing muscles, helps with insomnia and bowel movements etc. Well if you have bone broth 3 times a day you do not need the supplements for magnesium since there is enough magnesium in 3 cups of bone broth to keep us well. Also, I dont think you need calcium supplements either if you are usuing the bone broth. I know some folk still use crushed egg shells just to make sure they have enough calcium but I eat small amounts of unpasturised cheese so I do not bother with the egg shells Folk on Bees forum could tell you better than me regarding this. On days when i have the bone broth i do not take my magnesium or calcium supplements, when I do not have any bone broth i do. If i have unpasturised cheese I just have half my daily amount of calcium, but i guess I am confusing you now but if anybody is struggling to buy all the supplements or just prefers to get their nutrition from food 3 cups of bone broth does supply us with enough magnesium and calcium and it also gives us plenty of other nutrients too Hope this is helpful Love joanne ________________________________ To: " fibromyalgiacured " <fibromyalgiacured > Sent: Fri, 12 August, 2011 22:42:18 Subject: Re: : Back Pain  Joanne what kind of bones? chicken etc.? what kind ?    Joy  ________________________________ To: fibromyalgiacured Sent: Friday, August 12, 2011 4:29 PM Subject: Re: : Back Pain  My hubby has a very bad back, I have problems with my sacroiliac joint. in his case it is bulding discs etc and with me it is detox Both of us are using bone broth daily to deal with this. The minerals in bone broth strengthen bones and also assist detox, and they relax muscles. Several folk on Bees site have shared success stories regarding the recovery from very damaged backs whilst including the bone broth in their diet I make mine with a slow cooker. I get the bones for free (I say they are for my dog, LOL, which they are but they give me so many he could not eat them all LOL) anyway, I put the bones in the slow cooker with sea salt cider vinegar and water and leave it simmering for 12 hours, then we just drink the juice. It is nicer than you might expect I have been told that because it contains potassium it can help us not get kidney stones, which as you know is important on a ketogenic diet Lemon juice and high doses of vitamin C with biolaflavanoids are, I believe, help my liver Hope some of this is useful Love Joanne ________________________________ To: fibromyalgiacured Sent: Fri, 12 August, 2011 4:17:06 Subject: Re: ???  Wow...wonder what's going on, other than pain and frustration. Am not trying to sound demeaning or anything. Just have been going through some weird backache. Don't know if it is muscle or kidney or liver. Now arm is acting up. Hope you have been doing well.
