I slept on the floor for years, now even my expensive mattress doesn't do it, so it is just the position you can get in for relief. I would like a video of the ones I go thru during the night. I am trying to protect my Fusion and do not lift and am very careful so I don't know what the answer is. My rods have kept things very straight and there are two opinions, one that I fused correctly and I had one radiologist said no at the lower level but I saw the plain films after my fusion and it looks fused. The radiologist was looking at MRI which really are not that great of a tool that people think, CT's can produce thinner cuts and each have their pro and cons. My neurosurgeon says you can only tell if you open you up and look and I am not at that point. My neurologist told me that the Fusion would not relieve back degenerative disc disease but is a functional surgery fro me so I was not made any promises and went in eyes open. I have a recliner in my other room and I have a little nest in my bed that I sleep in and I have been found with a leg off the side of the pain many of time to relieve the pressure of my back and SI joint so we all must have interesting sleep positions. I don't know what type of insurance you have but some insurances pay for the pads that go over them and some of the gel pads are great so you might check into that.
