What a great inspirational message!  You said it all better than I could have! 

It is true, we do what we do through our pain for our children.

My father lasted 16 years with ALS and I know, even though he never stated it,

that it was for his children.  All 8 of us!  I was 9 when the worst of his

symptoms presented.

 

I know for a fact that if I didn't have them, I would not be as active as I am! 

They are the most important thing in my life and I will never let that change.

 

The fear that you expressed about only being remembered packed in ice and such,

that is my fear.  For some reason, they seem to focus on that and not what you

do outside of and through the pain.  More so for my older children but I am sure

Sam is on the way. 

 

How can we make it so they see that without sounding like a self absorbed

parent? That is the question.

You have my deepest respect and I want to tell you how much I admire

you.

I could only have one child but dedicated my life to helping children,

disabled, and in special education.

I still act as a special education advocate and have students I love

and remember.

I hope you find relief, Anne, you are an inspiration to me. Thanks for

sharing.

If you don't mind me asking, why did you have your instrumentation

removed?
