I echo Debbie's thank you to Poly for creating and moderating this whole

group. It is a big project and she does an excellent job! Our best wishes

and prayers are with you Poly!

Love,Celeste

P.S. Sorry I haven't been on in a while. Unfortunately, my father-in-law

passed away last week and it has been a difficult week.

Poly,

Just wanted to add a good luck to you at your appt. next week in the UK. I

hope things go your way. I want to join Jane in saying a thank you to you

too. I've learned so much from people on this sight and it's all because

you had the determination to create it. Thanks.

Hi Polly,

Ditto from me on the praises to you! I look forward to logging on and

" listening " to everyone's stories, concerns, solutions, etc. It has been a

comfort to know I am not alone in this!

Regarding your question as to the severity of my asherman's, my doctor said

on a scale of 1-10 I am right up there. Remember, I've been working with

this since Oct 99 with estrogen and hysters and lapras and the balloon thing.

I''ve been seeing fertility specialists since Oct since my ob/gyn Dr. did

not respond " adequately " when after my D & C in July that I had not gotten my

period. I knew something was wrong. I went right to the specialists and my

ob/gyn has no clue what I've been going through. Please don't get too

discouraged. My doctor's stressed " PATIENCE " to me since day 1. Now the

news is good, I didn't expect it to be, I've been thinking of surrogates and

adoptions and now this! Time and patience, don't give up hope.

I was severly scarred, my uterus had collapsed and looked like a pencil. I

had a very thin lining. It took 8 months to get to this point. I'm quite

surprised that the balloon worked because my doctor even said he might need

to repeat the procedure again. They don't always work the first time. KEEP

POSITIVE!. I know it's hard, I've been up and down on the rollercoaster.

All the best to you and keeping you in my prayers,

a

Hazel,

If you can take the time, drive to the hospital yourself and track

down the records! Is that possible?

Poly: Of course you are right about my ridiculous error on writing scar

tissue when I meant endometrium....these pain pills are really great for

pain but not so good for clarity of thought...sorry and thank for catching

it!! (If only more scar tissue would help us carry children we'd all be

baby-making factories?! ;-} )

Yes, I love the spreadsheet! It really helps me so much. Thank you again

and again for putting that together! As for my information, I guess you could call

my surgery " fluoroscopic lysis of adhesions " . Yes, I have an IUD in place now

and it will stay " in place " until at least my next appointment which won't take

place until after I either have a period or don't have one after my 10 days of

Provera in mid-October. I believe that if I get a period he will remove the IUD

and give us the " green light " to attempt pregnancy. If I don't get one, then I'm

not sure what he will do.

I did see on the spreadsheet that Celeste has had 3 surgeries, the last with

Interceed which finally " worked " for her. But, the chart also lists her as having

a lining of only 4mm again leading me to believe that perhaps my doctor is

more correct than not in his generalization that for women who reform scar

tissue over and over, additional surgery may clear the scarring but doing so

may be of limited utility as it still won't " solve " the lining issue.

Again, I'd love for him to be wrong, there is nothing worse than having your

hopes dashed again and again...but I would also hate to think we are giving

each other or ourselves " false hope " and prolonging our agony and delaying

the " getting on with my life " decision that some have come to only after

multiple painful surgeries.

Hope I haven't offended anyone by bringing this up....just found it interesting

(and upsetting) that our chart statistics, at least so far, seem to bear out my

doctor's theory about prognosis for Asherman's sufferers.

Gwen

Gwen

Gwen,

thanks for sharing that information with the group. I think there should be a correction somewhere where you put: " He further stated that even if additional surgeries are able to remove scar tissue and it did not grow back that this group of Asherman's patients is very unlikely to ever grow scar tissue sufficient to support a pregnancy to term. " I guess you mean:

unlikely to ever grow endometrium sufficient to support a pregnancy to term???

Now this members chart is proving to be very useful in analysing ashermans. I too look at it often and compare everyones situation and although I think your doctor has a point there, I wonder if cases like Celeste who had a third surgery because her adhesions kept coming back, might be an answer to your doctors hypothesis. Her doctor used Interceed and the scar tissue never returned after her third surgery.

I have not completed your profile on the spreadsheet because I have been waiting for this surgery of yours so that you can answer a couple of questions I need. I will be posting a new profile list this week because many members have joined this week. We are now 56 members. That is frightening!! There are still quite a few members who have not sent me in their details. I appreciate it if that is what they want but I would like to point out how much these statistics have helped us (the victims) realise a lot more than what some doctors have been telling us. So if you would like to send me your profiles everyone, I would appreciate it.

Gwen, What name shall I put for the type of surgery you have had?

Just confirm that you had the IUD in place and tell me for how long you think that will be used.

Confirm that he found you cavity closed and also tell me what he said about your endometrium. Could he see it and was it continuous or islets and the thickness?

Hi Poly,

I read in one of your post that you mentioned your cervix was

previously scarred shut, but now it's open. Was it opened thru

surgery? What kind? I think my cervix is scarred shut now, after my

hys/lap done in 8/8. I've had no period, but had bad cramps during

the time my period should have arrived. I asked my RE what he can do

to open my cervix, and he said probably a cone biopsy! I didn't

think

that sounded right, too drastic in fact. Thanks.
