Tina

I am an IT support analyst and I have used something that is called open source

(free) applications for my spyware and antivirus for years now on my PCs and on

my customer's PCs.

For antivirus, I use clamwin.com for antivirus and superantispyware.com for

spyware. Just keep them updated often and you dont have to buy the upgraded

version if you dont want to. All the upgrade does is allow you to set up

automatic settings for updates and scans.  If you are willing to manually run

updates and scan once in while (weekly or biweekly), you will save lots of money

and protect your PC.

Good luck!

Colleen
