I haven't had one in about 6 months but I used to get them frequently. Two

things helped me: l-lysine 500 mg twice a day and Abreva on a q-tip rubbed

onto the sore at the first sign and then used a couple of times a day until

the sore is gone. I believe the sores are in the same viral family as cold

sores, chicken pox, shingles, and herpes. The l-lysine is what I think

has kept me from getting them again. I also take 3 grams of vitamin C a day

and I think that may have helped also.

Thanks .

But what is Abreva? I do take L-lysine already and Vit. C everyday. I know I

have a compromised immune system but beside Fibro they haven't yet figured it

out.

Thanks,

Caitlin

Hi Caitlin

There are so many types of sores, that can reoccur, at the front of the nose, or

on your lip, that I would have my doctor take a look at it.

It is quite likely to be a herpes infections sore, that explained very

well. My Mom used to call those either a fever blister, or a cold sore.

Here is a link will all kinds of mouth, and lip sores. Many of these are quite

graphic, but cold sores, shingles, and fungus are listed about 15 pictures down.

PS Please let us know what your doctor says.

Good luck

Wow, thanks for the info but luckily mine aren't as bad as any in those graphic

pictures. Thank goodness. Going to the Dr. today, will let you know. The more

research I did, the more I realized it could be serious. I was thinking it was

just from dry heat.

Caitlin,

I get sores in the corner of my mouth and it is from a yeast infection.

It is call cheatling (what doctor said). Anytime i get the sore corner

of the mouth, I know to double up on the yogurt, decrease the sugar in

my diet, and if worse comes to worse, I take Nystatin.

As you said, it really hurts to be such a small area. It is amazing

how toes, fingers, nose, and mouth can cause a nerve pain that is

intense. i only recently learned it is because the nerve endings are

close to surface in fingers so I take care of those ingrown nails. I

hope you get relief and find out what it is.

I use a mouth wash for thrush when I get the sores in my mouth, I am

glad it does not go to my nose. i had a pimple inside my nose one time

and it was the most painful thing. Anyway, i am glad you are taking

care of it and i am curious what he treats it with also. Let us know.

Bennie.

Mine turned out to be staph, so it's good to get it checked. Swabbing

the antimicrobal ointment wasn't too bad, and it was gone in 5 or 6

days.

Good luck!

Yes, he did and called me himself. It was MRSA--which totally creeped

me out.

I have been diagnosed with MRSA, you really need to take care of

yourself. Make sure you let everyone you come in contact with know

that you have or had MRSA. Just to be on the safe side, the bright

side is if you are ever put in the hospital you will get a single room.
