Guest guest
> I would talk to your doctor about taking some testosterone after checking lab tests. They can see if your hormone levels are low. > Hello, My name is Doug and this is my first post on this site. I am retired Army. I have had many broken things including my neck and since I am still able to walk and hike okay I feel very lucky to be as healthy as I am. Most of my pain comes from damaged nerves and severe arthritis. As so many I am taking quite a few medications. I also have issues in sexual arousal and performance. I just turned fifty eight and have been dealing with chronic pain for about thirteen years. A couple of years ago I began having night sweats and really just sweating way too much at just about anytime. I was diagnosed with secondary hyperhidrosis and my testosterone levels were very, very low. At the time I was having no libido or erection problems. I went on a hormone replacement therapy and brought my testosterone levels back to normal levels. The irony is that the sweating problem didn't change and within about a year I began having serious libido and performance problems. I know the sexual problems are fairly common with chronic pain and all the medications but is anyone else having the sweating issue? It doesn't sound like a bad problem but it impacts so much more of life than it seems at first. Doug
Guest guest
Moderator's Note: Many of the medications we take can cause serious sweating as a side effect. Most narcotics and antidepressants can cause people to sweat profusely. Lyndi ------- Doug I can sympathize with you on the sweating issue, Doug. I have terrible problems with sweating. Some days I have to change my clothes three times. It's embarrassing, I don't go out in public much because usually I have sweat running down my face and drenching my clothes. I look like someone poured a bucket of water over my head. I have to keep a fan on in my room in the winter. It can be 3 degrees outside and I will be sweating like you wouldn't believe. My family doctor put me on potassium pills for two weeks and during that time the sweating wasn't as bad. I got a little relief for two weeks but it's back to sweating like crazy again. I am 36 and the sweating is worse than night sweats caused by menopause. I have asked many different doctors what I can do to make it stop and they seem to be stumped. They all say that massive sweating is a symptom of withdrawl but I'm not experiencing withdrawl from any of my meds. At least I'm not the only person going through this.
