Guest guest
....hmmm...when I started doing the liver cleanses I learned of the health aspects of olive oil...soon I started liking the taste and began eating it with bread and salads...now though, I like it a bit to much...I did bread in it a lot, but end up eating 1/2 cup at one sitting...I feel physically good after doing this - but tired and cannot run around too much Is this ok - the only thing bad I can think of the oil is that it is green (made from unripened olives) and that it might be to raw and hard on my stomach - also by giving my body digestive work to do I might slow down healing (the oil I use is Olio Verde - it is very very good). I am just concerned about this - why do I feel the need to consume so much oil (also - I do not really gain weight from it so I do not have weight problems caused by it). (What is interesting is that before the cleanses I could not digest fat well at all - I would eat fat and be in bed for two days - now I can eat 1/2 cup of olive oil easily!) n
Guest guest
I'm no expert (only pretending), and the addiction looks curious. Maybe just hooked on the taste for a while...? Unsaturated (not saturated) oils can get rancid in our bodies, so adding a vitamin E supplement to one's diet is recommended (in any case, actually). Like around 400 IEs (forget the recommended daily allowance), which many scientists in the field take themselves. Monounsaturated oils, such as olive oil, can actually also clot in the veins. One study found " only " 24 % saturated fat in the arteria, while the remaining was poly- and monounsaturated, more of the former than the latter (but then we tend to take in much more poly- than mono-fat). Other studies point in the same direction. So maybe moderation is due, using only " normal " amounts, in the everyday diet...? As far as I understand, there is not that much substantial known about the health benefits of olive oil (only coldpressed, extra virgin oil has those benefits, btw): much of it is vague blah-blah about Mediterranian (sp?) diet and heart disease, the one writer seconding the former. But it probably has benefits... - Helge >...hmmm...when I started doing the liver cleanses I learned of the health >aspects of olive oil...soon I started liking the taste and began eating it >with bread and salads...now though, I like it a bit to much...I did bread >in it a lot, but end up eating 1/2 cup at one sitting...I feel physically >good after doing this - but tired and cannot run around too much > >Is this ok - the only thing bad I can think of the oil is that it is green >(made from unripened olives) and that it might be to raw and hard on my >stomach - also by giving my body digestive work to do I might slow down >healing (the oil I use is Olio Verde - it is very very good). > >I am just concerned about this - why do I feel the need to consume so much >oil (also - I do not really gain weight from it so I do not have weight >problems caused by it). > >(What is interesting is that before the cleanses I could not digest fat >well at all - I would eat fat and be in bed for two days - now I can eat >1/2 cup of olive oil easily!) >
