Guest guest
Joanne, As I was reading your post, I was thinking of food sensitivities. I have been studying this for a while. Some people are very sensitive to a wide variety of foods. Yeast is a biggie. Gluten another. Nightshades another (includes lots of veggies). Etc. You said you tried the plant based diet but were also eating the gluten, etc. That could have been the issue. A raw food diet does not include gluten. The food does not have its nutrition baked out of it from heat. This one dr said if you had to have meat, then to cook it at very high heat to sear it quickly. This way it does not kill all the nutrients in it. She is a naturapath and an oriental dr (2 degrees). Very intelligent lady. She said that we should not eat grains at all but if we felt like we should, do gf. I have heard that from several drs. Another thing about plant based diet is whether they are organic or not. Some people react to the chemicals that are sprayed on the plant or the way they are processed. Dr. Carling ( mentioned above) said that organic foods will have over 100 x the nutrient value of commercial foods. Or more. Depends on the food. Also, GMO foods could affect people also. So you can see that there are a number of factors to consider when choosing a plant based diet. I think I may have to cut down or eliminate the nightshades. I have not completely tested for this yet, but I am becoming more aware of my body's reaction. It will be hard as these are some of my favorite veggies. maryruth
