Guest guest
Hi, I found this group a few weeks ago and have been lurking. This seems like a very nice supportive group. I'm glad that so many on here are finding help for their fibro with low carb diets. I'm also disappointed because the root cause of my fibro is different. I have a disease called porphyria, and I absolutely must eat a fairly high carb diet because of this. In fact, I got very very sick trying to go low carb, which is how I found out I have porphyria. I've been debating whether to remain part of this group or not since I can't go low carb. But anyway, wanted to introduce myself before deciding. Guest guest
Hello Welcome to the group. Thank you for sharing your story. This group is very supportive and you dont have to be on this diet to be part of the group. Can you do coconut oil? Or butter? How about the supplements? How long have you had fibro? Are you in the states? I live in Northern California and I think I have had fibro for 15 years. My younger sister who is really bad has had it since she was at least 18 and she is 29 now. She takes lots of meds and is trying the gluten free approach right now. Guest guest
Hi Ange, I live in Texas. I was diagnosed with fibro about 12 years ago, but I had it for many years before that. I am gluten and corn free and that does help. I seem to be able to tolerate the coconut oil right now even though I can't take large amounts. I have been trying some supplements, but there are many I can't take because they can cause a porph reaction. One of my biggest problems right now is mold in my house. I can be feeling okay on my way home from work, and as soon as I walk in the door of my house, the severe fatigue hits. I just bought a new air purifier yesterday, and am hoping I can start feeling well enough To look for the source of the mold. I did find some under the cover of the water dispenser in the fridge. I so suspect some is down in the drains in my sink as I get a runny nose when I go near the sink. > > Hello > Welcome to the group. Thank you for sharing your story.
