Guest guest
There is a man at our church who had fibro so bad he could not walk, etc. He started a support group and acquired the largest collection of fibro books in one privately owned place. He said one of the biggest things for him was swimming at least 3 times a week, a vegan diet, supplements, prayer. I would be interested in a sample menu from you. If you could send it privately. I am trying to improve our eating habits. I want to sign up for the local gym so I can swim weekly. I can get a scholarships for membership. maryruth
Guest guest
Thanks uth! Here is what I eat on my vegan gluten free diet: I wake up in the morning and have hot water with lemon, aloe water, trace minerals and cayenne pepper. I hopefully have a bowel movement after this. I then use my blender and do one cup of either almond or soy milk, a scoop of either hemp or VEGA protein powder, a banana, ice and frozen berries. That is my breakfast. I put it in a jar if I'm in a rush and drink it with a straw at work. For lunch...if I didn't plan ahead I luckily work near a very healthy vegetarian Indian restaurant and I get a dahl (lentil) soup and a big greeb salad. If I did plan ahead (I usually do) I have my meal...I HIGHLY recommend the cookbook " Color Me Vegan " This week for example I made red lentil with apricots stew (delicious and sweet!) and quinoa with kale, sunflower seeds and walnut pesto. Quinoa is a complete protein. For snacks I might have a plain soy yogurt (they are naturally sweet), almond butter with carrots, nuts with dried berries, etc. I keep these around in case I get hungry. I try to drink a lot of water. I also love drinking Yogi Tea's Joint Comfort Tea, it's delicious. For dinner...it depends...I keep a lot of things around. I might make a huge salad with greens, cucumbers, zuccini, chick peas, avocado, whatever veggies I have around, I try to eat sprouts in my salads etc. I also keep lots of cans of beans and I have a rice cooker so I might make myself a mexican bowl of brown rice, black beans, kale, salsa and avocado. If I need a snack once I'm home I have toasted gluten free brown rice bread with either almond butter and banana slices or avocado and cucumber slices. I also have a tangerine or orange and some Joint comfort tea before bed if I want something sweet. I've found it's important for me to eat raw and not just cooked food, especially salads. The supplements and meds I take are as follows: Cymbalta 50 mgs VITAMIN D - i take liquid 50,000 once a week. My doctor told me to do this. I take a liquid B vitamin under my tongue (you need B12 supplements if you're vegetarian) Fibro Response is my multi Magnesium Wholemega by New Chapter, has all the omegas Garden of Eden Probiotics If I'm constipated I take Triphala Also if I'm very constipated I do an enema. I'm realizing just how important it is to have regular BMs. Before bed I spray my legs with magnesium spray. This has reversed my restless leg syndrome. Thank God. Swimming is just wonderful. It's ideal if you can find a warm saline pool and go to a sauna/steam room after. Start slow with swimming and be easy on yourself. It helps me a lot to stretch inside the pool I also use a foam roller at home. I really feel it if I slack on foam rolling. I think keeping the fascia moving is very very important for FM. Let me know if you have any other questions! This has been working for me and I'm still learning. I've lost 10 lbs in 6 weeks which is an added bonus Dana On Tue, Mar 1, 2011 at 12:50 PM, ruth Dilling <maryruthdilling@... > wrote: > > > There is a man at our church who had fibro so bad he could not walk, etc. > He > started a support group and acquired the largest collection of fibro books > in one privately owned place.
