I'm seriously considering moving back to the D/FW area, and one of the

considerations is still being able to volunteer in EMS. I know of a few

volunteer fire departments that run EMS, but I'd like to find more,

especially if there are any EMS-only organizations, or Fire/EMS volunteer

groups that do shift-scheduled work, not just per-call work.

If you know of any, would you please forward information to me on them?

Anywhere in Dallas, Tarrant or the surrounding counties is fair play.

Mike :)

Mike,

When I returned to the D/FW metroplex in 1987, after six busy years

teaching at Texas Tech, being a Medic, and volunteering with a

service, I was ready to volunteer. I found there are not nearly the

volunteer opportunities here there were in the west. The few

volunteer services I found required you to live in their communities,

and to be blunt they were a pain in the *** to deal with. Like they

were doing the volunteers a great service making a place for them,

and

if it was difficult to work into their schedules, tuff! I'm sure

there are good volunteer opportunities in D/FW area, but for me,

moving back home (ville HS class of '72) brought an end to my

volunteer days. Sad, but true.
