Guest guest
Hello All, I just joined this group yesterday and am very happy to have found you. I had a series of work-related accidents 8 years ago and have had a very high pain level ever since. I have tried physical therapy, chiropractice, acupuncture, and pain meds. Currently I'm taking Darvocet (4) daily and have prescribed for me Norco for breakthrough pain (10 pills a month).I'm sorry, I don't recall the strengths and I'm at work. I did take morphine for about a year but found it really didn't manage my pain any better than the Darvocet/Norco combination and it had lots of other side effects. I am also prescribed Lidocaine pain patches which I usually wear 2 a day. Sometimes 4. I know I'm not supposed to use any more than three a day, but sometimes I just can't help it. Currently I teach high school but prior to this I was a mental health/substance abuse counselor working in a public mental health agency. When I started needing pain medications for long-term, I struggled with all I had been taught about addiction, drug seeking, tolerance, etc. I have since realized that I am a very responsible user of my medications. I rarely use more than prescribed and occasionally I use less. Honestly, I have sometimes taken them for the wrong reasons - being afraid that I would be in a lot of pain and so taking them before I thought I would need them. I wish I didn't need so many meds. Recently I heard about DLPA and wondered if any of you had any success with it. I'm really happy to have found you and look forward to learning a lot and hopefully contributing some myself. Thank you for listening.
