Guest guest
Janette, Numbness many times is a sign to move something, somehow, in some way. The trick is learning how to move with the least amount of effort so as not to exacerbate a negative situation. Movement rather than exercise is the key. The brain can change the body through simple movement. Numbness usually indicates a lack of a signal coming through so the area must be enlivened again. If we fail to move our 600 or 800 muscles they will atrophy and begin to send messages of discomfort. Having 17 layers of muscles, it is everyone's self-responsibility to keep things moving as well as one can. We can reorganize how we move so our coordination patterns improve as we age. Being 50 and now 14 years free of fibro... I had mine in my 20's and 30's. I single-handedly, for the most part, used movement to solely get me out of it. While that sounds simple, it really is. We have to simply eat well, think well, and move well. All of this takes effort which eventually becomes effortless so that when discomfort arises, we use the tools we have at our disposal. I've been using somatics exercises - which are not exercises rather un-exercises as they un-do muscular tension and un-lock muscular stiffness as we regain our ability to have easier mobility and natural flexibility. All healthy vertebrate animals pandiculate by nature, that is, they voluntarily contract their tissues, feel it, then allow for a release where the brain sends chemicals of relaxation to the targeted area. The muscles are now reset in terms of function and relaxation. A relaxed muscles performs longer and is not being robbed of energy. The pandiculations themselves have been systematized as somatics exercises which involves using the brain's cortex in a learning process to change our muscles... so that neurological or muscular events like numbness... fade as the muscles regain function. Move Well... Ed > > Janette > > for some folk fibro is as serious as MS and for some folk with MS their illness is not as serious as they expected. The reason we all have these thoughts that you are describing is because many people deny that fibro is a serious illness, and we often get very confused because underneath we know we have a serious condition but since we are being told we have not got a serious condition we end up with feelings of shame and self doubt and a lot of other stuff goes on for us. It is like we cannot measure how ill we actually are and we are not certain how things will be for us in the future and so on > > I am telling you this, not because I want to add to your confusion, I am sure I just have, but I am telling you because although fibro is a terrible illness and for many it does progress,a nd in many cases fibro is actually a misdiagnosis of another autoimmune illness, and for some it is an indicator that a different autoimmune illness is brewing, but I want you not to worry about any of this, because since you are here at this site, you are going to get your illness going into reverse and you are going to get very well indeed > > All you need to do to get well here is to retrun here regularly for around 6 weeks. In that time you will learn all you need to know to get your illness and all its symptoms going in the opposite direction. But Janette, I know it can sound like a drag and at first the things we say here dont make sense but if you can stick it out here for that amount of time by the time the 6 weeks are up you will be a much happier person > > Now regarding the numbness. what is most likely causing your numbness is either toxicity or poor communication of your nerves, or both. The toxicity you can help with the diet we do here, and the nerve thing you may, like me, be able to help with the diet and gentle excercise, or if you can afford it, a chiropractor may be able to help you with this too > > Anyway, as you can see I mentioned the diet for both conditions and the diet is always a good place to start. I can list the basics here but really you will need to do some reading up on all this. It is not that straightforward at the start but if you read up on it and keep coming here and asking questions and then have a go at it you will find your health improving > > anyway, I have warbled a bit here, this is because it is very much on my mind what Sara has just said about Electromagnetism. I know for certain that electromagnetism is playing a big role in regards to my illness. I will when I get my head together better share more about this but for now if you do want to look at the diet here it is > > http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/foodslist.php > > Love Joanne > > Janette said............. > > I am new here but not new to Fibro, I have had it for 10 years. I am 42 years old and have varying degrees and types of symptoms. I have some good weeks and some bad weeks but never total recovery. I have had hundreds of tests MRI's, EMG's, blood work etc. They have ruled out MS, Lupus etc > > I have a lot of numbness in my hands and feet. I have a poor excercize tolerance and I have trouble accepting the diagnosis and worry endlessly that it is something else, more serious. The main thing I suspect is MS but my consultant repeatably assures me it is not MS. > > Does anyone here have severe numbness and pain in your hands and > feet and, if so, what have you done to help this? > >
