Guest guest
Hi , I chew it up and swallow....lol....well now you may not want to start off this way because it really does take getting use to as it can be rather hot and cause some inflamed tissue initially in your mouth if you go this route and that can be uncomfortable. The reason I know this is because when I get a really bad cold or sinus acting up I chew it up and hold it in my mouth for extended period of time and yes it really does work to help kick it's time in half or sometimes it will stop it completely. Now what you may want to do is start by using it in your foods. If you don't have a garlic press I advise you get one because they are wonderful and save you lots of time for using them in foods. Simple recipes of garlic is just press one or two cloves and grate fresh onion together with the garlic, add a few tsp. olive oil and mix in your salad or in a pasta dish or rice dish or in tuna....etc. If you do juicing you can also juice them into your veggie juice and they really liven up the flavor of veggie juices. Once you get use to eating it you can then just plunge into chewing a clove up once a day and that may be all you need or want or if they are extra small cloves then you may want to do more. If I get some really big cloves in a bulb then I will only eat one of those because they can potentially add up to about 5 small ones...lol. But personally I prefer the smaller ones as they are more flavorable than the large ones that seem too bitter to me. I hope this helps you out some and once you get into the fresh garlic groove, you will wonder how you lived without it. *teehehehe* Cruise the internet and you will find some really great info on garlic and some great recipes along with your unusual garlic diehards. lol. Oh yes and in Dr. Schulze's book on curing the incurable, he says in there that if there is only one thing you do in that book then eat the garlic, get the garlic in your body whatever you do. I have included it a lot in cooking and have also used it sometimes in juicing, but was interested to read of someone who just eats the clove itself. These days I've been doing mostly raw foods, so I would like to get to the point where I could actually eat the garlic itself, since I'm not really cooking. I wonder if the body could still do something with it if I just swallowed a small clove whole without chewing it. Okay, okay, I'll be brave and give chewing one a shot one of these days. Do you have any problems with a garlic odor? Previously when I consumed a large quantity of a Garlic Fennel soup I had a noticeable garlic odor as it came through the pores on my skin. Have you experienced that with eating the actual garlic? thanks again for your thoughts. in health, rachel~

It's much better for you if you press the clove. Pressing the garlic releases allicin, which is the most important substance. I think after you press a clove, you need to consume it within 20 minutes for ultimate potency. Or you can also throw it in your juicer to be juiced with your juice. This works good also. Take care, Susie

Guest guest
, In order to activate the allicin in garlic you need to chew it....lol....can't just swallow it no!! teehehehe......I know your teasing, anyhow as for the odor, no you won't notice it after you have been eating it for perhaps a few weeks, then the odor subsides and you smell normal....and of course that could be quicker as you may not have any active bacteria anywhere that it needs to attack, if you do then yes, you will have an odor for a spin. A good way to take it in the morning is with apple, slice the garlic and the apple and sandwich between two apple slices and chew it up, it cuts the potent hot burning of the garlic somewhat and plus you get good nutrition and fiber from your apple. Once you start eating it raw you will find all sorts of things to do with it and mostly you will just grab, peel and chew. lol Enjya asked about acne, the 24 year old with mild case who did a flush, Enjya, you can also try the garlic raw, I think you would find it very helpful. ;-) Peace Lucinda ----- Original Message ----- From: Rachd1961@... gallstones Sent: Tuesday, February 26, 2002 7:06 AM Subject: Re: Re: eating garlic demi111@... writes: > But personally I > prefer the smaller ones as they are more flavorable than the large > ones that seem too bitter to me. > I hope this helps you out some and once you get into the fresh garlic > groove, you will wonder how you lived without it. *teehehehe* > Thanks for the hints. Guest guest
I've also made a V8 juice and thrown a clove of garlic in the juicer along with beets, celery and carrots. _______________ Suzanne, That sounds nice! I juice mine in carrot and celery juice also, plus I've been adding radishes lately. When I was sick with a cold, I started having green tea and when it was ready to drink, I pressed about 5 garlic cloves into it. I did stink, yes, but it didn't matter. It sure did help me from getting the pneumonia stuff that everyone else is getting around here. It's a potent antibiotic, among other things. It's also a decongestant. Guest guest
You can purchase odorless garlic from the health food store and also chop, dice, and press regular garlic in food (guacamole, soup and other dishes). I purchased a garlic press (less than $5) and if you scoop the pressed garlic into a capsule with a toothpick or chopstick and get it capped before the capsule melts(even if the cap doesn't go all the way together) it can be swallowed that way. Advice don't take garlic on an empty stomach because it is too strong and will make you throw up. And don't take more than 3-4 raw cloves daily. I forgot what imbalance it causes. Maybe just too strong. We buy our garlic bulbs at Sams in the hanging strips. Pretty and gives you plenty to use. Best not to use the kind already peeled, picks up something undesirable, forgot what again, gee... hand me the ginko! I spend so much time here at the cabin alone that it doesn't matter about the social odor. When husband is here, he does'nt care and often joins me in a cocktail or dish. In the old days in Hawaii, everyone used to tease that all the hippies smelled like garlic and patchouli oil. They were known health food lovers. Funny how time passes. Look at the kids in health food stores these days. They look just like hippies. AHHH, exhale deeply. of Dewberry Hill Lucinda May I ask how you eat the garlic? I would like to do that, but - do you swallow it whole, chew it, cut it up, blend it? Guest guest
Oh yeah! I forgot that you can wrap a couple of peeled cloves in some spinach or parsley and push that through the juicer into your carrot juice or whatever you are making. of DH " People are like stain glass windows; they sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is alight within. Guest guest
Garlic is strong by itself, so I eat it with a piece of cheese (no good if you're having gallbladder problems) Chewing it helps to digestit. Another nice way to eat it is pressed or finely chopped in a yoghurt and cucumber sauce. This is good as a sauce for a pita filling or over a salad. I've also made a V8 juice and thrown a clove of garlic in the juicer along with beets, celery and carrots. Suzanne
Guest guest
Celery juice is an excellent source of organic sodium, which is very good for the gallbladder's production of bile.
