As for the response (please don't take this wrong) - while I understand what you're going for there - I'd just be careful who to say that to. You never know what a person is dealing with. For example, the woman in my office lost her husband to cancer and is currently dealing with the imminent death of her son-in-law to cancer as well. So...it wouldn't be a good comeback to give to her. I know that Dr. Schulze, who I immensely respect and admire, uses a line like that, but I just don't care for it. And you know, Susie, that I'm not picking on you. I'm aware that there will be those who think I'm being too serious and are thinking " lighten up, rach! " . I just think that cancer isn't a laughing matter and not something to make a joke out of. But I would like to find a comeback that I'm comfortable with for such an occasion. Fortunately, though, most people don't know what I'm doing anyway, so if they figure out that the garlic smell was coming from me, they'd probably be too polite to say so. Thanks for letting me be honest about this. in health, rachel The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it and ignorance may deride it, but in the end there it is.
