Guest guest
HI Niki, Welcome to the list....I'm sorry that you have to be here, but you will find it a very informative forum...as well as...VERY SUPPORTIVE. I too, wonder why your Dr. was treating you with antifungals for a problem that is bacterial. Antifungal agents will not do a thing to clear-up bacterial vaginosis. I recently, (back in Oct.) had my first-ever case of B/V and was prescribed Flagyl. I also was prescribed along with it, Diflucan. It seems EVERY time I am on antibiotics, I develop a yeast infection. That is why I took the two at the same time. The Flagyl did get rid of the B/V. You need to tell your Dr. that you want a CULTURE done for B/V. If your Dr. is not willing to cooperate with you in your best interest, perhaps you need to change Dr's. Hope this information helps...and be well! Carla
Guest guest
Hi Norma, I am so sorry for your pain. You have come to the right place about your vulvar problems and depression. I know many of the ladies here have mitro valve prolapse, but your other problems sound more serious. Where do you live? Perhaps we could direct you to a better doctor? You are in my prayers. Guest guest
Norma, Welcome to this list. I hope you'll find a lot of help here. Just one note: You say that you have been diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis. If so, Nystatin, Diflucan, and Nizoral are the exact opposites of the type of medicines you should be using! They will just kill the yeast and make the bacterial infection worse! You might look into Cleocin ointment, it is supposed to be good for bacterial vaginosis. -Kitty
Guest guest
I am new to this list and have a question. I am in the process of being tested for diabetes. My health insurance is Aetna/US Healthcare. Do most HMO insurances cover all the costs involved in managemnent of diabetes or is it necessary to apply for medical assistance to cover this? Guest guest
I'm not really sure, I think most do - but you should check with your carrier. Welcome aboard !!! Guest guest
Hi: My husband and I are covered under the Aetna USHC Managed Choice plan, as funded by the company from which he is retired. This a PPO, not an HMO. Under that plan, there is a copay for the supplies (test strips and lancets) as there would be for medication. Of course, the doctor had to prescribe these items. I am not on diabetes meds except for the occasional Starlix that I take when I want to go off my low carb diet! There is a copay for the Starlix as there is for any other drug. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi welcome to the group. I am also on Aetna/US Healthcare and it is working out very well. I just pay my $10 copay for my doctors visits and then I pay a $10 co pay for my glucophage and a $10 copay for my testing strips so I don't pay any additional money unless I want something extra. > I am new to this list and have a question.
