You need to discuss this with your doctor. The technician should never have told you this. As many tests, ultrasounds, c-scans, etc that I have had, the only time the tech told me anything was when it was a good report. Most of the time, tech's do not tell the patient any info. This should come from your doctor only. Do you have an appointment with your doctor? He is the one that ordered this ultrasound, right? Also, let him know what the tech told you. I'll keep you in my prayers that once the doctor sees the reports, he'll realize it is not as bad as the tech seems to think. Guest guest
Pam, Could it be a type of Phlebitis? Well at least they are catching " it " early, what ever " it " is. I will be praying for you. Guest guest
Did you have to run and they checked the pulse points, and then jump and have them checked? This is what I did. My technician wouldn't tell me anything. Every question I asked, was " ask your doctor " . I think it was maybe overstepping to tell you about the stats for African American Women. It's good you're trying to keep your " cool " . My test ended up showing nothing, at least I was never told anything. The only problem I had was over a year of fighting with the insurance company for paying the bill!! --- pamalicious_2000 wrote: > Well I just got to work from my Retinal Ultrasound > and I am trying > not to freak out. > > I don't know who's had the test but it involves them > checking your > pulse points all the way down your leg in order to > check your blood > flow. Guest guest
My test consisted of me lying on a bad (I checked in on out patient basis) and she did an ultrasound reading at each of my pulse points starting at my groin. Then she attached about 6 blood pressure cuffs up each leg and then she checked each blood pressure for each major pulse point all the way down my leg starting at the groin area. The machine was loud etc. and it didn't take a rocket scientist to see that when she got to my left foot you could barely hear my heartbeat as well as I stay alert and look at facial expressions, mumblings etc. and she was seriously trying to figure out what was going on. She checked the machine etc. and did the test 5 times or so and I don't mind that she told me stuff. I want people to TALK to me. I'm not some number. If she saw something and was qualified to read the chart then pass it on and I'll get with my Dr. for treatment. This way I can be in charge. I " m the patient. Tell me and I'll put the fire up under my Dr. I don't wait on them. Hell I've had this mess for awhile and no one has mentioned it; so I am being PROACTIVE. > > Well I just got to work from my Retinal Ultrasound > > and I am trying > > not to freak out. > > > > I don't know who's had the test but it involves them > > checking your > > pulse points all the way down your leg in order to > > check your blood > > flow. Guest guest
Your test sounds like one I had a while ago, but I didn't remember the name when you first said you were to have it. Only, I had to do all this exercise, then they checked before and after. I remember hearing the machine. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I did. It is called PAD - peripheral artery disease. It means the small arteries in your legs and feet are blocked. The bad news is that are no medical miracle pills. The good news is this: OK - Stop smoking Exercise - they recommend walking OK Now, when you exercise the small vessels find a way to regenerate themselves creating new pathways for the blood to flow. Like the body is healing itself. Pretty cool. The best exercise I do is calf raises. I stand at the timer on the microwave and try to do 2 minutes up and down. I can feel the blood rushing through my feet. I also take lost of fish oil to help the circulation, but I just had blood work so I don't know if it is working. When you get the diesase really bad you have pain when you walk, but they tell you to keep walking to regenerate the vessels. I was just diagnosed about 2 months ago, so I can't really tell you what has worked for me. I am in a real quandry now because when I take the diabetes meds, my legs really hurt. I am trying to figure out what is the problem. I hope this helps. Please let me know what you find out. Phyllis
Guest guest
My test was the same, but I had to do calf raises for 2 minutes. They check the blood pressure in the legs and tiny little blood pressure for the toes. I had 90% blockage in three of the right toes and about 50% in the left. Guest guest
> > > Pam: I've had a LOT of things done to my retina, including photographs; that's at the back of the eye. They look at the back of the eye to find out how the circulation is for the retina, sometimes inject dye, but it's pictures of the back of the eye. The test you had sounds similar to the ones I did as a nurse checking the circulation of diabetics.
