Guest guest
Hi, I am realatively new to this " reality " in life, having found I have breast cancer only a couple of months ago. I need to check out your site before making a conclusion, but it kind of upset me to read the title. I guess everyone is dying, but at this point in my journey of " living with cancer, " I absolutely hate the word dying. I realize, though, that as time goes by my feelings will change, but right now dying is not an option for me, at least not an option that I will consider. I don't want to offend you, so I'll go check out your site, and see if maybe I am misintrepreting the title. If so, please excuse this paragraph. I'm just a bit down today, because the reality of chemo starting this coming Monday is a bit scarey for me. Bye for now, Gloria http://www.adoptn.org ltlprincess33 wrote:Living with Dying? Guest guest
Hi everybody. First, thanks for the emails and the feedback. I would, however, like to clear up a misconception. I was told 15 years ago when I had a major heart attack, that I was dying. The doctors did not think that I would survive. Well, fifteen years later, I am still surviving. I intend to continue living for as long as possible. The title represents the threat that I have been living under for a very long time. I have found that regardless of what type of illness is involved, people often become so caught up with the threat of dying, that they forget to live. No matter who you are, I'm sure that at some point you have expressed the thought " I don't want to die. " And that more than anything is what the website and the newsletter are all about. Gloria, you are right about what you say. You are exactly the kind of person the site is designed for. How can we do whatever we can to keep you concentrating on living? One of the best ways to do that, is by hearing the stories of those who have already done it. Ltlprincess33, I have not found the wrong group for posting the message. You state that you are not dying. Wonderful! Now why don't you share with other people that access the website how you got to that point? That's what it's all about. Caring for other people. Gloria, I will pray for you that you will be restored to health and that your chemo is successful. After you have looked the site over, please let me know what you think. I think that you are also right about the title for its' negative connotations. I will rethink the title. Perhaps you might have a better suggestion...one that's geared towards victors and survivors. Thanks again for your feedback. Guest guest
HI Phil, Thank you so much for expressing what you hope for the website. It sounds wonderful, but I still haven't taken the time to check it out. I know that I do need stories of strong people who have dealt with the realities of cancer, and hear how they continued to LIVE. I'll be think of another title for the site, but you may find that your chosen title brings in the most visits. I'll also ask my kids, for I find that children often are the best at creativity.
