Guest guest
OK, here's the stories of my kids' names. - Both and are family names in both mine and dh's family. One of my favorite ancestors was , she came to America from Ireland. Sara Ellen was my great-grandmother. Both my mom (Sara Jane) and I (Janae Ellen) were named after her. I added the " h " because I like it better that way. iwas also the name of dh's grandmother. - once again, family names. was dh's grandfather's name. There are also s way back in my line. is after my father. Now here is a real story. My grandpa's name was Wesley. When my dad was born, grandma wanted to name him Edgar Earl. Grandpa didn't really like it, but he went along with it. So my dad grew up being called Ed. When dad was 17, he got a copy of his birth certificate. The name listed was Wesley Earl. My grandparents were basically illiterate and the doctor filled out the birth certificate. He didn't like Edgar Earl either. My sister has a son named Lance Wesley, and I didn't like Edgar, so I fudged it a bit and came up with . So, that's my stories. Guest guest
I think that's so cool! When Josh was born, the baby in the bed next to me was Chinese, and the parents named her Amelia Yun, and I can remember thinking, " Why did they give her a middle name like that? " and then they told the doctor it means " cloud " . And after that, I realised what a beautiful name it was, to call their little baby girl a Cloud. Guest guest
Salli,..... Are you sure you want my theories on baptism and how it doesn't take???? Even when I was a proper little southern baptist, baptism/christening was a sticky subject with me. I am more than happy to give my heathen opinion, but it may be offensive to anyone deeply religious...lemme know....I'll be as non-offensive as possible.... And thank you for the warm welcome!! Guest guest
Mimi - Yes. Sydney Haneul Lee Madison Nara Lee We spent the first several years calling them by their Korean names, as I was making an effort to speak in just Korean, thinking they have the rest of their lives to learn English. Then, with the speech problems..... since starting school, they have only been using their English names, and I'm speaking only in English, if at all possible. Ironically, now they respond to both names, LOL. Go figure, it took so long to get them to respond to one name, but using two, they finally respond to both. Ha. Thanks, Mimi. I like their names too. I could use twin boys though... I had those names all made up in my mind also. and Zachary, LOL.
