How old is your daughter? What is her hearing loss? >> Hi a! I have a progressive loss. I started to lose my hearing about 10 years ago. I am now at a moderate loss across the board. it runs in both sides of my family. Some of my relatives lost their hearing at a young age and some like me in their mid to late 20's. my daughter was having a hard time acquiring speech and language. She was developing in gaps. Her hearing tests were all over the board. last year she started to develop tinnitus she called it buzzing the BEES are in her ears. That's when we started to see many shifts. Sometimes it can take a week for it to come back up and other times months. Her shifts ranged from mild to severe. now the last 6 months they have now noticed her discrimination si shifting. It can go from 90% to as low as 52%. She has had episodes where she can't get off the couch. We recently had bloodwork done for type II collagen antibodies and she was positive. they feel she is destroying her inner cells. They diagnosed her with Meniere's. She will be 4 next month. We are heading to see a pediatric ENT to help us. sorry it took so long. How about yourself and your daughter? We use total communication. I have three other daughters who always have their hearing checked. thanks for the input on the FM. take care Lori

Maybe this was it but I can tell when she si at home and everyone is talking she just starts screaming and says I can't hear you. oh well thanks for the help. Guest guest
Hi Lori: I am so sorry for the late response! I just found a bunch of emails that I never read. I was diagnosed with my hearing loss at 3 and it has been progressive ever since. I am now profound in both ears and would probably benefit from a cochlear implant, but I still get a lot of use out of my aids and my kids are young, so I'm waiting a while on that. What pediatric ENT did you or are you going to see? I don't think there are many, so I'd love to get their name and what you thought of them. Where are you located?
