My child (4.9 yr, 35 lb.) started phrase I with 30mg DMSA every 3-4 hours 3+

months ago. During phrase I, he has made constant improvement although he

was quite stimmy. We started phrase II with 30mg DMSA and 15mg ALA every 3

hours just last weekend. Both my husband and I feel that he is more stimmy

and harder to concentrate since we started phrase II.

Anyone can give me any insight of the situation? You know, we have been

looking forward to starting ALA. When things go worse, it is very

discouraging to us.

These are reasonable side effects. You might reduce your dose and see

if they are better. maybe 5-10 mg of each DMSA and ALA per dose.

I presume you do chelate him through the night.

If they are 'side effects,' they should go away a few days after the

round is completed.

This is something many people see with the addition of ALA at first. Hang

in there for a while, and maybe lower the dose.
