Hello, everyone,

Here's something from Dr. Mercola's website about magnesium which is

interesting.

Low Magnesium A Risk Factor For Death From Heart Disease

Serum magnesium levels are inversely related to the risk of death from

ischemic heart disease, a researcher from the US Centers for Disease Control

and Prevention. Serum magnesium concentration, independent of other risk

factors, was inversely associated with death from all causes and from heart

disease.

COMMENT: Magnesium is one of the most important minerals to supplement, as

most of us do not get enough. If you were to juice large amounts of organic

vegetables, you probably do not need any mineral supplements. However, most

of the rest of us do. As you may know, magnesium is one of the best solutions

for constipation. One must be careful, though, and balance some calcium with

the magnesium. If one does not do this, muscle cramps are likely to result.

The precise ratio is probably not too important; many advocate a 2:1

calcium/magnesium ratio. My gut feeling is that the reverse ratio of 2:1

magnesium/calcium, or equal amounts of both, would work as well. When using

magnesium, it is important to avoid magnesium oxide, as this is one of the

worst forms of magnesium supplementation. The best would be organically bound

magnesium, which is found in organic green leafy vegetables.
