So maybe a person's gallbladder is the size of their own fist as well? Just a thought. in health, rachel~
Guest guest
Thanks, - that's a great description. I've been wanting to look it up in some official medical type text to get an accurate description. I guess you can't get much more official than Gray's Anatomy! That size could definitely hold some of the stuff that has been coming out. I have one more question, though. What the heck is a drachm? in health, rachel~ claudiameydrech@... writes: > Okay, here's what I get for answering emails in the wee hours, let > me correct myself from my Gray's Anatomy, it is pear shaped > musculo-membranous sac, " about four inches in length, one inch > in breadth at it's wides part, and holds from 8-10 drachms. Anyone know what US coin it would compare to? rachel~
Guest guest
Okay, here's what I get for answering emails in the wee hours, let me correct myself from my Gray's Anatomy, it is pear shaped musculo-membranous sac, " about four inches in length, one inch in breadth at it's wides part, and holds from 8-10 drachms. " and then goes on in great detail to the structure of the organ. So, that's actually about an inch longer than my fist from knuckle to knuckle, but not nearly as wide as my fist. Guest guest
So then it would be roughly the size of a thumb if you include ALL THREE BONES, not just the top two that I had been picturing. And certainly its' size would be relative to the size of the individual. erin > In a message dated 2/22/02 11:44:22 PM Eastern Standard Time, > claudiameydrech@c... writes: > > > > THE GALLBLADDER IS about the size of a small fist, pear > > shaped - not a thumb, not sure who's hand they are > > referring to :-) but that's the general rule on size > > I have heard. > > > > Perhaps it's the same as the heart in that they say the heart is the size of > your own fist.
