Yes, I think she mentioned pumpkin butter, but I've been adding pumpkin seeds

to my salads for a while. They're also good if you soak them overnight - it

brings out the flavor. :)

Hmmm...shells? These just look like oversized sunflower seeds - no shell.

Actually, I've never seen pumpkin seeds with a shell on them. Come to think

of it - they don't come with shells. Are you sure it's pumpkin seeds you're

thinking of and not sunflower seeds?

Thanks , very interesting! I knew fennel would help rid one of parasites

but I didn't know that it made them drowsy.....oh that is too funny!! I have

the essential oil and it is realllllyyyy strong! Just a few drops for wiping

off the counters and you think you walked into a licorice factory...lol.

Eating pumpkin seeds is another good one for killing the pesky critters.

Peace

Subject: interesting info about parasite cleansing

I received this information in email from Ingrid of www.kitchendoctor.com.

I thought that it might be of interest even if you aren't thinking of doing a

specific parasite cleanse. (yet) :)

On another subject altogether, I have a couple of suggestions to make

parasite cleansing go a little more easily. One is to eat lots of celery,

maybe even celery with our pumpkin seed butter. The theory is that the worms

get tangled in the stringiness of the celery and it makes them easier to

eliminate.

Another suggestion is to add fennel to the diet. You can put a drop or two

of fennel essential oil into a carafe of water or you can bang some fennel

seeds with the end of a rolling pin and add them to boiling water. Fennel

apparently makes the parasites drowsy so they can't hang on to the intestinal

lining as easily. (We have both the seeds and essential oil.)

Perhaps this has been mentioned, but eating figs is also good. I

think I heard that chewed well those little seeds in figs do a number

on the parasites, don't know if there is more to it than that.

,

Yes, pumpkin seeds have a big white shell comes off and you have a green seed

that is rather large and yes looks like oversized sunflower seed that has been

shelled as well. Have you ever carved a pumpkin and taken the seeds and roasted

them in the oven? We use to do this when we were kids all the time. Years ago

at the co-op grocer they had them shelled and when I saw them shelled I thought

" hmmm....I never thought of shelling them " ...lol.

I'm sure I've carved a pumpkin at some point in my lifetime, but I

dont' recall anything about the seeds, so I'm sure we've never

roasted them. Now that I know about the value of the seeds, though,

I'll ask someone to save theirs for me when they carve their

pumpkin. I'm actually growing (or attempting to grow) white pumpkins

in my garden this year. I wonder if their seeds have any different

nutritional value....

I've never seen pumpkin seeds with the shell on in the stores,

though, so I would guess that's the best way to eat them. De-shelled,

that is. :)
