Guest guest
hello all, i'm curious to see if anyone else has tried to eat a really simple/clean/nutritious diet during hypo? i went hypo last monday (10/1), and i decided that i was going to eat a really healthy, cleansing, and energizing diet. i am already vegan, so no dairy/eggs/meats/fish wasn't a concern since i already don't eat those. however, i stopped eating all things that might really slow down my system since my metabolism is going to be so slow. that means: -no salt at all...i figure that salt really adds to the water retention part of hypo, so if i skip it maybe that'll help -no coffee (though i am drinking green tea, i heard it was easier for your body to metabolize) -no alcohol -no bread -no soy/soy sauce/tempeh/tofu/seitan (those were the hardest for me to give up) what am i eating? tons of steamed or sauteed veggies, fresh fruits, grains such as quinoa and brown rice and oatmeal, and drinking lots of water, i do use spices (none with salt), and i make salads every day or cook soups or fresh meals at home. and i am either jogging or hiking in the mountains every day. i will begin doing yoga tomorrow, which i've never been into, but why not it's been only six days so hypo won't have hit yet, but i do feel great...i've lost 5 lbs and am at my ideal weight (5'3/110 lbs), my doc ran a metabolic panel blood test just to be sure all's okay and he's very happy with everything so far. i'm wondering if anyone else has tried to do this? it is difficult mentally, because i've always loved potato chips and i LOVE salty foods...but i figure i'd rather try to work with my slow metabolism by giving my body foods that are easy to digest/metabolize. i'm hoping that i'll sail through this hypo period with just a little tiredness, but who knows...i may hit bottom next week! i hope not! anyway, if anyone out there has tried to be really super healthy/cleansing during their hypo period i'd love to hear any thoughts/advice/suggestions! wish me luck sue
