Guest guest
> Has anyone out there been able to lay down with their child for the > procedure? Not a good idea for a number of technical reasons. Perhaps if you had a caring tech they would let you watch through the window and you could assure your daughter that you would be watching her the whole time and won't let her out of your sight. I would also suggest an idea from a children's book called The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. http://lonestar.texas.net/~listenup/books/kids4.htm This is from the book's synopsis: " Chester Raccoon doesn't want to go to school--he wants to stay home with his mother. She assures him that he'll love school--with its promise of new friends, new toys, and new books. Even better, she has a special secret that's been in the family for years--the Kissing Hand. This secret, she tells him, will make school seem as cozy as home. She takes her son's hand, spreads his tiny fingers into a fan and kisses his palm--smack dab in the middle: " Chester felt his mother's kiss rush from his hand, up his arm, and into his heart. " Whenever he feels lonely at school, all he has to do is press his hand to his cheek to feel the warmth of his mother's kiss. Chester is so pleased with his Kissing Hand that he--in a genuinely touching moment--gives his mom a Kissing Hand, too, to comfort her when he is away. " Obviously since she will have to lay still, some modification of this idea will need to be used, but I think it's doable. Perhaps something like a kiss she can hold in her hand till it's over. Something like this would also give her something else to be thinking about during the exam. If she needed something more tangible, how about a heart shaped bead to represent your love. As long as it's small and plastic, I don't see why she couldn't hold onto that during the exam, especially if you explained to the tech why she was holding it.
