Guest guest
Mercury is one cause of photophobia, but there are other toxics that can cause this as well. Nickel or copper for example.  People with autoimmune conditions like lupus, often have photophobia.   It is usually/often caused by blockage of enzymatic process by toxics. In particular the enzymatic processes blocked result in dumping Uriporphyrin in the urine, so a fractionated porphyrin (urine) test usually finds high Uriporphyrin.  But other porphyrins can also be blocked/dumped and the pattern of which are in the urine gives an indication of the likely toxic involved. In general mercury body burden is not trivial to test for. I've discussed mercury tests before. But if you have several dental amalgam fillings you have high mercury exposure, as documented by hundreds of thousands of medical lab tests. If you have the problem, its likely best to focus on reducing exposures rather than doing a lot of tests. Though tests are useful, just expensive if done comprehensively.
