Guest guest
Please Hazel--do NOT let nature take its course. Have a D & C right away. You have whats called a blighted ovum and I had that 2 years ago. My Dr. told me that I would expel or absorb it. 5 weeks later I went in, hadn't expelled anything and still felt pregnant. My Dr.(whom I haven't seen since) said I was absorbing it. That led to all my problems. I believed him but still felt strange months later. Got my period a few months after but light. The placenta was retained but didn't find out for 10 months after initially learning of the blighted ovum. Finally when I did have my D & C, it led to AS because I was so infected. If you do let nature take its course, make sure you bleed-heavily, and follow up with as many US it takes to prove your uterus is clear. So sorry to hear this...you know you can get pregnant though. Best of luck to you. cheryl > >Reply-To: Ashermansegroups >To: Ashermansegroups >Subject: **SAD NEWS** >Date: Thu, 16 Nov 2000 20:00:45 -0000 > >well everyone, i had my U/S today because my beta #'s were not going >up like they should and the dr. was really concerned and didn't >want to wait till monday......and the horrible news is that there is >no fetal pole just an empty sac. >my husband and i are devasted!!! >the dr said i have 2 choices d/c or wait to miscarry naturally. >as many of you can imagine we've decided to let nature take its course >i'll just wait for cramping and bledding to start >does anyone have any experiences they can share? the dr said it could >take up to a week.(not sure if i can wait that long) > >haze > _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Haze, I am so very sorry for your loss. only a few days ago, you brought us so much joy and now we are crying with you. I agree with that this loss had nothing to do with Ashermans. It seems that it was a blighted ovum?? I will put that in your profile if it is. Yes, let nature take its course and wait to m/c on your own, but please do take precautions such as antibiotics for your good sake. Again, so very sorry that this has had to happen to you and please feel free to write to us when you feel like venting. We are here for you Haze. Guest guest
Hazel, I am so sorry for your loss. I know that there is nothing that I can say to make it more bearable, just know that my prayers and thoughts are with you and your dh. My second miscarriage was a blighted ovum which is when the sac is empty. Like you my numbers weren't doubling as they should have. My obgyn explained to me that this miscarriage was just total bad luck and had nothing to do with my uterine problems. She explained it as being caused by an 'empty-headed sperm' i.e. one with no genetic material and that it shouldn't happen again. This pregnancy occured two months after my operative hysteroscopy, so I wasn't about to have a d & c either! My dr also told me that it could take a few weeks for the miscarriage to start. I didn't want to wait that long as my beta was already past 5000. So, I asked my dr about cytotec, which is a pill that your dr would break into pieces, place onto your cervix, and this will start the bleeding. I liked this idea of having some control over such a hideous experience. It took two days after using the cytotec for the miscarriage to occur. My dr gave me a prescription for tylonel w/codeine which I found to be essential. Even so, it wasn't nearly as painful as I'd feared. Depending on how far along you are, you should be prepared to deliver the placenta which looks like a deflated purplish/red balloon, mine was about the size of my fist. I'd like to stress again, that the pain is very controllable with the tylonel w/codeine. I'm very sorry that you have to go through this, and I hope my answer was helpful. If you'd like to know anything more about my experience please feel free to ask.
