Guest guest
Hi everyone, I just wanted to check in and report what I found out at my second RE appointment today. However first I want to say, Kristie, congratulations on your pregnancy! You truly must have a miracle child to have endured so much already. I can't believe what your doctors did. V., I am so sorry to hear about your surgery. I can only imagine how devasted you must feel. I agree that it is very important to find an RE to try to straighten things out for you. Ute. Your story is so moving and inspiring. Congratulations on the birth of your son. Its so nice to hear success stories. Tina, good luck tommorrow. I hope and pray that all will go well for you. This second RE seems to be a little more hopefully for me than the RE I visited last week. Thanks to Poly's questions about my lining, I was better able to ask questions about the lining and whether my cavity is open. Basically, he says you can't tell from the ultrasound if the cavity is open, but with a 4mm lining (which is not great but he's seen worse) he seems to think I could have a partial opening. He did another ultrasound and will schedule me for another HSP with a smaller catheder after my next cycle. This will probabley be in about a month. If the cavity is totally closed - my chances are not good at all and surgery would probabley not be recommended because of the risks. If my cavity is only slightly blocked at the bottom (preventing the dye to enter during previous HSP) then I'll probabley schedule the surgery. If he can't get the dye in with the smaller catheder, then I don't know. Anyway, some answers to questions. 1. I asked about the interceed. He has not used it and he explained how its been used outside uterus and not within. I told him about Dr. Berger and he said if I end up with surgery, he would look into it more. He says it must be experimental and would want to know how ofter Dr. Berger has used at and at what success rate and if there is an increased risk of infection. 2. He likes the balloon and says the optimum time is 5-7 days. He says with antibiotics and estrogen, the lining should be able to grow in enough during that time not to stick to itself. Obviously this is not always the case as I had that exact thing with my last surgery. Anyway, he said he would be concerned leaving the balloon in over 7 days as a possible risk of infection. He prefers balloon to IUD. 3. Viagra. He's seen it used experimentally for IVF to increase the lining, but has not seen it used with Asherman's. He also said some of the successes with Viagra may be attributable to some other treatments that were used along with the Viagra. He also says that if you have no lining, then Viagra won't help. 4. With regard to not having periods, if your lining is not growing, then there is no risk from not having periods. However, if your lining is growing but there is a constriction blocking the opening of the uterus so that blood can't get out, then the blood could back up in the uterus and spill out the tubes into the pelvic cavity. I think someone mentioned this before, in such a case over a long period of time you could develop endometriosis. It seems if your not having periods or having light periods its important to know why. That's all I found out. I'll keep you posted of my progress.
