I actually had an overhead of them yesterday - and almost started crying when I saw their picture up there on the big screen.... We knew we had them when all the senators went " Ahhhhh " collectively. Definitely it makes a difference to put faces on who you're talking about. Did you testify in MA? Any other ideas you could share? Thanks - as always Barbara

Any other ideas you could share? Twice at the state level, twice at the federal level. I'm sure you did a great job! Be short and concise. Rehearse what you want to say beforehand. I did this with my wife. If you are not one of the first, be ready to modify your statements so as not to repeat what has already been said. Try and make your salient points complimentary to what others have said. For example, the first time I testified at the state house, most of the testimony regarding hearing loss was ASL related, by the Deaf and hearing people who work with the Deaf. So I started out comparing how my children are oral, and learn in a different way, which is why their needs are different, and why they need to fund options. Finally, try not to ramble, try not to get too emotional, and respect the others that are waiting by getting to the point and get it over with. I also leave enough generalities in my testimony to allow openings for questions. Answering questions clearly and concisely adds tremendously to your credibility.
