Guest guest
Premarin *is* an estrogen cream like estrace, just made differently. Some people prefer Estrace because of how premarin is made. Guest guest
, Some people use both the estrogen and testosterone cream together. My understanding is the estrogen cream (both Estrace, which is the 'natural' form, and Premarin, which is the synthetic form) rebuild tissue that has been damaged or thinned. The testosterone will toughen up that new skin that forms. Hope this helps. -- G.
Guest guest
Some one mentioned that estrace is natural and premarin is synthetic, but isn't it the other way around? I know that premarin is derived from horse urine or something gross like that (sorry!) and that's why some people prefer to use estrace. I didn't know this until recently and I am just using it because it's what I have on hand until I get to the doctor in a week or so. Then I am going to ask him for estrace. So, isn't estrace synthetic? Just wondering if I was confused. Thanks, Lissa
Guest guest
Hi Jodi, Premarin is an estrogen cream. I used it for a while, but then switched to a different type of estrogen cream called estrace when I learned about the different types of estrogen from Dee, which I've had more success with. There's a good article at the vulvar pain foundation's website by the gyn who discovered estrogen cream as a treatment for vestibulitis: http://www.vulvarpainfoundation.org/topical_estrogen_treatment.htm Dee, do you still have that info about the difference between conjugated estrogen and beta-17 estradiol? Your story was really inspiring to me when I first came on the list.
