Guest guest
Dear Geo: I can really feel how frustrating it must be to be involved by force with something that you don't believe in. I have just started to read these emails, and am finding that a lot has to do with people in your situation. Did the courts give you any sort of choice in the matter before they gave you this kind of sentence? I understand what it means to be stuck in a justice system gone a little tooooo mechanical. Which is why I now no longer live there.. Take care and stand tall... Did the courts give you any sort of choice in the matter before they gave you this kind of sentence? I'm not familiar with his situation, but years ago I'd heard some AA or 12-steppin' judge or someone's justification, saying forced attendance wasn't realy forced. (This was just after a ruling that AA was religious and a particular prisoner no longer had to attend meetings). The gist was that the offender/defendant was given A CHOICE between going to jail and attending AA, so he WAS NOT FORCED to go to AA. I swear to you that is what I read. I don't think I could find where that was said (it may have only been an AAer's message on the Fidonet Recovery echo), but it sounded totally bizarre even then, when I still had a small amount of 'belief' in the program. >I understand what it means to be stuck in a justice system gone a little tooooo mechanical. Well, the good news, and the bad news, is we still have lawyers here. :-/ > >Take care and stand tall... > >Judy... >> Barely surviving year three of mandated attendance at 12 Step meetings (with >> signatures, no less) and having opted to keep my mouth shut, rather than risk >> any further trouble from the Recovery Police.... What state/country is this in? I assume you've at least read about the legal stuff that Ken R. and (was it Stanton Peele) and others have done to stop this. I recall reading about it a few years ago on a few links from Ken's page. I just found it again, three links 'legal help' near the bottom of: <http://www.cris.com/~kenr1/commonsense/12steps/index.shtml> ----- My Delete key macro is expanding... http://www.mindspring.com/~benbradley ------------------------------------------------------------------------

The party filing the suit is the " plaintiff. " The party being sued is the " defendant. " Please read my previous post on this thread. To further clarify: Any taxpayer can be a plaintiff in a lawsuit against any agency authorizing the use of tax dollars to fund any form of 12-step treatment. A large-scale class-action suit would pack quite a wallop. This is a separate issue (though covered by the same Establishment Clause of the 1st Amendment) from coerced 12-step indoctrination of individuals. My lawsuit is in two parts: (1) against defendant XYZ State Transportation Agency for requiring plaintiff Railroad Rita to participate in religious 12-step indoctrination as a condition of continued state employment; and (2) against defendant XYZ State Transportation Agency on behalf of plaintiff Railroad Rita and other taxpayers of the State of XYZ, -----== Sent via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/ Easy access to 50,000+ discussion forums ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Amy: As long as it is above the cover line (even slightly under) you are all right and still have a chance. It is only if it goes down to where your usual AF temps are that you should expect the hag. Good luck sweetie, I am praying for you.
Guest guest
I had a nice morning today...went shopping to get something that was left out of my package last week. I had gone to the store and bought myself a kind of rusty pair of slacks and a knit long sleeve shirt to match. Did not look when I got home but last night we were going to a band concert at the University and I decided to wear the set. The top was missing!!! So I had to wear something else. This morning I found my ticket and I was not charged for it...thank goodness for that. Anyway, the pants needed the top and I did not have anything else to match them so I went and got 2! They were on sale so I managed to get 2 for what I had thought I would pay for one. One is a solid that is the color of the pants...the other is the same color but with white stripes going across. I can not wear the pants to meetings when I go out of town and wear a different top the second day. I like to do that because when you travel it gets heavy carrying so many clothes. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
