Guest guest
I think a D & C is standard for irregular bleeding, especially in women over 30. I would take his advice of a D & C, rule out any irregularities, and go ahead with a wait and see since you must be approaching menopause. I would appreciate that he didn't scream " hysterectomy " and actually suggested a wait and see approach since you don't appear to be anemic. good luck
Guest guest
Hi. I am new at this forum as well.. I am 54 and have had fibroids for about 25 years. I did have a D and C about 15 years ago to correct heavy bleeding and that did help. I always said I would not do anything with the fibroids unless they started bothering me. I am hoping for menopause soon, and think i may be having signs of this, and then hope the loss of estrogen will shrink the fibroids... Recently,my abdomen has been somewhat tender and I seem to have more urgency to urinate and to go often. As well, i sometimes feel a little nauseous after eating. Does this sound like fibroid activity? fibroids....(long)..need information/comments > Hi I am new to this list and have been lurking for about a week > reading and trying to learn about fibroids and treatments. Guest guest
I'll go along with this - a D & C is minimally invasive procedure and might help the bleeding, at least for a while. It scrapes out your uterine lining and sometimes it will take years to build it completely back up to the former level. While it's thinner you bleed less. It's usually used as a first step when the goal is to reduce bleeding. Your fibroid is about the size of an apple - fairly big but not really huge like some of the people on here. If you're not taking HRT this will probably eventually pass with menopause. My Mom didn't hit menopause until 59 but even that's only a few years away for you and if your fibroid doesn't grow too fast and as long as things don't get worse you may want to just wait this out. In answer to 's question - yes, I had all those symptoms too. As well as the heavy bleeding, infertility, pretty much the works. Even so, if I wasn't under 40 I would have just lived with them but I could see that it wasn't going away any time soon so I had a myomectomy in March that resolved all my problems. Good Luck, DeAnn > Hi. I am new at this forum as well.. I am 54 and have had fibroids for > about 25 years. I did have a D and C about 15 years ago to correct heavy > bleeding and that did help.
