By the way, protein does the same thing. Just as a caution to anyone who

might be on one of those high-protein plans or just someone who eats a lot of

animal protein. The body uses calcium to help process the protein - this is

why drinking milk isn't really a viable source of calcium. So if you're

in the habit of consuming a lot of protein (and a lot of people get much much

more than they actually need), be really sure that you are getting enough

calcium in your diet as well, otherwise the body could eventually leech it

directly from the bones.
