Guest guest
The primary mineral you're looking for is MAGNESIUM. The best form is MAGNESIUM ASPARTATE. Magnesium CITRATE is second best. Swanson Vitamins has a good product called Magnesiun Potasium Aspartate 300 mg of 180 tabs for 6.99$ a bottle. I think it is 2 before each meal. I would also take their ALIVE VIT MIN POWDER once a day also, they have it in a large capplet form too, but I reccomend the powder. If you need more info on A-Fib I can help you out. ...RP I hope he takes fish oil iris wrote: Martyn, I had some heart episodes like this a few years ago (not quite as drastic, but scary enough). In the end I was diagnosed with some mineral deficiency (maybe Magnesium, but not really sure which one it was). Well it went away after proper supplementation. A friend of mine had a similar thing happen last year. She was going through all sort of cardio tests with specialists. In the end it boiled down to mineral deficiency (induced by another med she was taking). None of the specialists knew about the mineral deficiency symptoms and your heart, but she found out about it through online research and then her doc confirmed it with blood and urine test. The doc also found references in the standard medical literature of how heart can be affected by this specific mineral (or a deficiency thereof) So maybe something worth looking into if you have the time. Best to you and your brother. Love, iris --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.
Guest guest
Hi Adam. Have either of you considered the negatives of soy? Legumes aren't good for people with MS and soy isn't especially good in general. I hope your brother does better. finnfan05 wrote: Hi Iris Thank you very much for this. Something I hadn't thought of. Thinking about it now, Martyn does drink a LOT of So Good Soya milk (non-GMO) which is high in Calcium, so maybe his magnesium levels have been pushed down. --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Guest guest
Hi Adam, I drink almond milk as a subsitute for dairy. I also use raw rice milk (horchata) or sunflower seed milk sometimes. According to Ashton Embry, and I don't agree with everything he says, it's the molecular mimicry in legumes that creates the problems, not the GMOs. Those are problems too though. Dr. Mercola's stand on non-fermented soy is that it isn't healthy, that it is dangerous, especially in the volume that your brother consumes. It's the plant hormones that seem to be an issue for most. According to Internet research, soy was never meant to be human food. I doubt that this is Martyn's only issue, but it could contribute to it. Maybe you could convince him to use some other form of 'milk' for awhile just to see if this makes a difference. It wouldn't hurt and might help. I use both hempseed protein powder and brown rice protein powder, alternately, for the amino acids. Maybe he could try either of those as well. Both are added to smoothies/shakes or juice. I buy raw vegan brands with no preservatives and no common allergens. To make either mylk, I blend the soaked nuts/seeds/rice in water and strain it through a nut mylk bag. I generally add some agave nectar to sweeten. Honey would work too. By the way, those extras in So Good are synthetic. How is a body supposed to recognize them as food? I wish him well. finnfan05 wrote: Hi Thank you for this. yes, I have looke dinto Soya and MS. I have looked at the ingredients of So Good. They have put a lot of good extras in there and don't use GMO soya (I remember looking up Dr. Mecola-forgive the spelling, who says non-gmo isn't too bad). The problem we have is the limited diet he is on (A Coeliac/dairy free diet), and the foods he trusts to eat. I have discussed things with him. Guest guest
Hi Adam, After reading this, I have to say that soy milk is the least of his problems. I'm glad he's better now. finnfan05 wrote: Hithanks again. I forgot to say: Thank you very much for this. --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
