Guest guest
i seem to recall that someone mentioned the use of Rowachol to dissolve gallstones. There was even a reference to a medical journal article that confirmed the efficacy of that preparation. Has anyone in this forum any experience in using Rowachol? Is it indeed effective? Any reason *not* to use it? ----------------------- IRA L. JACOBSON ----------------------- mailto:laser@...
Guest guest
> Has anyone in this forum any experience in using Rowachol? Is it > indeed effective? Any reason *not* to use it? I recently purchased Rowachol from a Swiss pharmacy (1000 tabs). It's legal to buy Rowachol over the counter in many European countries, as well as Canada, Mexico, Asia, etc. I've read 30+ medical journal articles specifically testing Rowachol clinically. To see the references to these, check out: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PubMed/ and enter Rowachol for the search topic. Results vary, however it's been good for me to actually see clinical studies of a suppliment for gallstones. One good thing about Rowachol is that - it's based on methol/mint oils, and has little if any side effects. Most of the articles mention gallstone dissolution results in ~40-50% of the people studied. You can receive copies of these medical journal studies via PubMed if you have a local medical library - check out this PubMed website for further info (They are sent to me free because a local hospital has a medical library, and the either xerox and snail mail them, interoffice a copy to me, or PDF and email them to me. FREE!). You can't buy Rowachol in the USA unfortunately, thus internet mail order is the way to go. Rowachol specifically seems more effective when taken with bile salts, and has been tested when taken with ursodeoxycholic acid (trade named Urso, Actigall) and chenodeoxycholic acid. These two acids are trademarked and marketed pharmaceutically, only available in the US with a perscription. These two acids are VERY expensive (i.e., I bought a 1 year supply of Rowachol for $150 bucks, mail ordered from Switzerland. 1 MONTH perscription of Urso or Actigall, *if* you can find a doctor who will perscribe oral dissolution therapy (rare) costs over $100!). Ursodeoxycholic Acid in Urso or Actigall is actually a synthetic version of bear bile. I did research on bear bile, however due to the many reports I've heard of inhumane treatment of bears (bear bile farms, etc in China and Vietnam) I decided not to go that route. It's been frustrating, looking for other methods of treatment, instead of just following the " remove it surgically " US method. My present regime is: before every meal, I take one tab of Rowachol. I wait 15-30 minutes, then eat. With my meal, I take granulated soy Lecithin, and also Beta Plus by Biotics. Beta Plus has Ox Bile, which is cholic bile acid, and ox bile has been the only over the counter bile salt/acid I've been able to find. Since several studies mention Rowachol is more effective when taken with bile salt/acid, I am trying this method to see how things turn out. Results thus far: I've been taking Rowachol for 2 weeks, and soy Lecithin and bile salts for at least a month daily with meals. Every month since I've started having attacks, I have sore gall bladder and attacks the week before my menstrual cycle starts. This past cycle, I did not have any attacks! My gall bladder doesn't feel as sore as it had been. More time is necessary to evaluate how it will work. I'll keep you posted I've done 9 Hulda flushes this past year, which has helped alot also. I do have a few PDF Rowachol studies I could email folks if requested. They are big (1-3 megs) but useful information. Hope that helps! of Oregon
Guest guest
A good place to start for finding information regarding Rowachol is PubMed: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi PubMed is a free service of the National Library of Medicine, and is a search engine of several medical/science journal articles on studies, etc. Also, if you can find a nearby library (usually a hospital), they will mail you xerox copies of the full articles free, and email you PDF's of the articles. All for free in most cases. Enter " Rowachol " in the search engine field. What you'll get will be several article studies on Rowachol. I've used this site for extensive research on gallstones. also - re: the price of Rowachol - compared to other medications is pretty cheap. I was able to find an international pharmacy that sold me 1000 gelcaps for $131 bucks USA overall (including shipping). Rowachol is a patented oil mixture, which includes menthol and other oils, that helps to dissolve cholesterol gallstones. The research I've read concludes that overall, maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of the people taking it have shown improvement. I do plan to impliment the use of Rowachol later, however I'm having success with my present plan of action. pomagranate@... --- In gallstones@y..., " L. Guest guest
, Can this be bought without a prescription? I don't have health insurance, so it makes getting some things difficult. Thanks, Susie
Guest guest
I bought it without a perscription. I *do* recommend checking with 3- 4 international pharmacies however.... the price ranged from $130- 230!! Also some of the pharmacies did sell it, but it was not listed on their offerings... had to send them email and have them research. The best price I could find was from WWW.PHARMAWORLD.COM (switzerland). I also just checked how much I paid - I was wrong - I actually paid $156 for two bottles of 500 gelcaps (1000 total). That will vary though depending on currency conversion and the market you convert from/to. pomagranate@... > , > Can this be bought without a prescription?
