Guest guest
I read the article sent out with interest re dangers of gallbladder surgery, with tragic situation the writer experienced and information about common injury to the bile duct. I have been reading everything my search engine will find on gallbladders lately, and came across the following. Believe me, I want to do all I can to keep my gallbladder, but the reality is that just maybe some of us WILL at some time have to have surgery....yuk!! So scarey articles are...well...scarey!!..but do motivate me to do all I can to make the right choice. I found the following paragraph from a long article read at a Mercke web site a little comforting - and hope that no one will be offended by my posting this, just concerned with keeping balance. " A high incidence of serious bile duct injuries noted in early studies of laparoscopic cholecystectomy now appears to be declining. In a review of more than 100,000 laparoscopic cholecystectomies, the incidence of major bile duct injury was only 0.5%, and of these, more than 90% occurred at the hands of surgeons inexperienced with laparoscopic cholecystectomy (fewer than 50 cases) " Thats it, and thanks for all the helpful and interesting posts...still waiting to hear from someone who can tell me whether they have successfully passed calcium stones...if that's all you can see in an ultrasound, then I've got them, and don't relish the idea of flushing them if they don't pass.
