Guest guest
I 'm a littel concerned about the vaginal acidophilus concept. I know people have also used yogurt vaginally. SO I understandthe sense of this. However, from what Ive learned about Candida, it lives in your gut and gets to your vagina via your rectal area, in essence. I mean, its on your skin too, but it colonizes in your gut. In whats called a " bowel resevoir " . The thinking, or I should say, one kind of thinking about vaginal candida overgrowth is that it is accompanied by a bowel resevoir overgrowth- so to control an overgrowth on vaginal candida, you need to get a hold of the problem in the bowels. This is why oral antifungals are recommended. SO if youre going to take acidophilus, you might as well take it orally. Is there any advantage to taking it vaginally?? I mean, there is such a thing as acidophilus overgrowth too, and I would hesitate introducing a bacteria directly into the vagina at such a high quantity. Anne mentiend one that is formultate for vaginal use- that sounds more like it, though I would be really curious to know how its safe for vagnial use. Then again, I might be a Paranoid Patty becuase it seems sticking medicines in my vulva got me in a whole lot of trouble!!! -- Thielke http://www.numuse.com " 'Solidified electricity' is the fancy name given to it by the Bureau of Standards.
