This is a serious condition and though I'm not an expert on this, I do have a

compressed disk that I've had to deal with.   If they don't operate you might

consider traction- under doctors awareness.   I've used overhead traction and

also inversion table.   But would have to be done carefully and with

advice/observation of doctor.  Traction can take pressure off the spinal chord

and allow better alinement.  But it sounds like this is a precarious case.
